dealership trade auto for man
ok, so i know there are alot of people on here that have auto and want manual, some have done the swap and others have traded but has anyone actually gone to the dealership to trade? i called them yesterday inquiring about this and they urged me to come in so they can see whats what with my car. i have a 2008 with 14,000 miles, runs great, interior perfect and only some paint chips due to rocks(literally 3 or 4).to anyone who has done this how bad did they screw you for. they also said that they would even swap out my springs at no cost. i told them, that i can bring the rest of the car to stock myself but if i was gunna do it i dont want to spend all day on the spring especially when they are offering. also i still owe 15,000 on it.
basically the trade in on your car is about $12000,so you are gonna add the $3000 still owed to the cost of the new car,so you will now end up owing around $20000,plus add on the taxes and new financing rate, expect to walk out the door owing a good $22000,so basically taking a $7000 loss.........bad financial decision, just drive the auto and be happy you have a nice car.
yeah ive just been thinking about it lately. im not unhappy with my car, i love it. i just want more control. i think im just going to keep paying off as much as i can at a time and then buy a project car after that. a weekend driver, something to have fun with. Thanks for the advice.
eh.......sadly I just know math........and although it s not the dealership that tries to screw the person it is the numbers.
Best way to do it is to either jsut enjoy and drive the car for several years, say 3 years,or sell it to pay off the loan. Then save up and get a good down payment on the new car.
Gettign a nice project car to play with is also a great way to do it.......one of the guys up here is building a nice Civic hatch from the ground up,another has a 240 to play around with........
I am on year 2 now with our tC and am finally not upside down on the amount owed vs value.

yeah, im thinking about getting like a 2002 civic si hatchback. i like those alot and i would love to learn more about cars by actually taking one apart and putting it back together.
i don't really dig the styling of that gen Si, but they can be fun... take a look at this guy he has a bunch of videos...

Yeah like bzinn said just drive and enjoy it..I thought about doing the same thing and the numbers just would make it really not a worthwhile thign to do.
I now only owe about $4500 on the tC and going to have it paid off by early/mid 2010 vs my original pay off date which is janaury 2012..I saved up and just put down a huge payment.
Now once my tC is paid off I have a whole lot of options such as saving up and gettnig a newer, better car or getting myself a toy (which for me is probably going to be the most likely case scenario) or just enjoy the extra money.
Personally I've gotten to enjoy my auto
keeps me out of trouble
lol
