i bought mine used, and i found this weird paid of suspenders in the trunk under the mat

Also, yeah its so totally for picking up your tires when changing a flat.

 

not for picking up the tire but for securing it to the trunk, the connectors are 2 on the floor behind the back seats and then one right behind were the driver side taillight is. there should also be a plastic blanket cover so your trunk wont get dirty when have the tire attached like that.
