Default Did you get your VIN for your 2006 tc? ASK FOR VIN IF WAITIN

Great news everyone... :D In some places the 06 tc is just 2 weeks away or less.

My dealer in Charleston South Carolina has been able to give me a VIN for my car, so that means it is completely built (the car) and very ready to be delivered.

I had no choice on the color though (if I want it fast) as it is a black one.

I have heard about many people's 05's orders changing automatically to 06's, are you one of them?

Have any of your got your VIN's?

By the way, my dealer actually took my 05 and instead of trading it for the color I wanted, he gave it to another customer that was MORE profitable, I know because I was spying on his dealership, and my salesperson sort of admitted that that is what happened... DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU, stand firm on getting a VIN within a reasonable amount of time .

I called dealers around my area, and I was told they could get a vin sometime between 20 minutes, 2 hours, 1 day to 3 days. My guy told me a week, and I said I must have it within a week or I'm going somewhere else (my loan experies in 30 days, I have no choice), and I got my 06 VIN in 2 days.

I hope this information helps those of you who have been playing the waiting game for a long time.

Does asking for a VIN make the process of waiting any faster? If so, why? I've been waiting for an 05 since April and decided to go for an 06 just last week. Would asking for the VIN pressure my dealer into finding my SW MT tC?

How else would they pay for the free coffee in the waiting area?

It won't make your car come any faster, but it can insure they are honest with you about actually locating a car for you. Just tell them you need the VIN for insurance quotes, and you do.

Exactly! You need it for an insurance quote, also if you are ordering a window etching kit, you need it for that. But most importantly, your loan needs it too, and if your loan time frame is expiring, well, it might not get your car in any faster, but it may cause them to make sure you are treated as fast as possible as far as a trade (trading one scion for a nother) and not lying to you about hwne it is going to come.

About the coffee, if that's how they pay for it, well they better damn have starbucks and nothing else!

well, presumably if you haven't gotten your tC yet, then you will all be getting 06's.....so you don't have to worry about picking between 05 and 06

If you ordered a Scion, and the dealer said that it is on the way in they should be able to give you a vin# for that vehicle. Everyone of my folks that order a vehicle get their vin# the day that I can see it in my inventory run.

Well, two weeks passed (just before this mark "my" vehicle went to someone else) and still no VIN. I found it odd, so I contacted dealers and they all said they can get me a vin between 20 minutes and 3 days... so two weeks seemed like a lot. BUT, maybe because of the transition between 05 and 06, maybe that's why there was such a time gap.

I got a vin number last Saturday for my 06 tc. My sales woman said that I should have it in about two weeks (from Saturday). Anyone know the breakdown of the vin number (how to read it)? I thought I knew but now I'm not so sure.

I believe you start from the left and work your way right, until you are at the end.

I think 6220 means auto and 6221 means manual. Um, then the color maybe? I have no clue.
