Default disappointed

okay so listen i have had my flint mica 07 tc since november of 06 with stock engine and my friend just bought his black cherry 07tc just last week brand new . so today we decided to do a couple runs against each other and we did 3 runs and i lost all 3 times and knowing me i didnt want to take the defeat and say it was my bad driving so we switched up cars (so i can prove it wasnt my driving). so i ran againts him using his car and him using mine and i beat him by a car and a half. when i was using his car i noticed that it was much more responsive and quicker at the lunch. so the whole point to this story is that does the tc naturally slow down after driving it daily and breaking it in then from when it come rightout of the lot with jsut 300 miles on it? i was jsut way diappointed with the results. i dont noe y it would be that slow i usually nver race it and theres only 12*** on the car and it well maintained. any feedbacks would be cool.

Any mods on either car? Including weight, etc... be specific

the 07 engine is actually a bit different

well, you shouldn't be racing a new tc with only 300 miles on it. the engine hasn't been broken in yet. tell your friend he is hurting his car and should wait until atleast 1000 miles to start doing alittle drag racing.

maybe his clutch is really grabby since it is so new. maybe you have some extra weight that is slowing you down, or perhaps your tires are getting kinda worn, or improperly inflated/ need a rotation?

2 reasons why this may be

1. he's a better driver
2. you need an oil change

they are both the same car and year just diffrent colors except mine is 6 months old and his is just about to hit a week old and yeah thats hurts to say hes racing with a 300 mile tc ON THE CLOCK. i just feel like my car is a lil weaklin lol i was jstu disappointed because im the type of guy to take car of my car to the fullest extent and i was jsut wondering y was it slower then the other tc was it because the other one was newer or was it because i messed the engine at the times i raced it. another question is that would a new tc jsut naturally slow down during your driving periods and lose its power

well, engines do naturally lose performance with time as they get older, and experience more wear and tear and have a decrease in performance, but at 12k miles, yours isn't anywhere near that point. it should just be getting into its prime.

maybe he deflated his tires for better traction on launches? did you notice that maybe there was an issue hooking up on the launch?

yeah i did noticed that to he was taking of better at lunch i thought it was the tires because mine would spin more then his at lunch but he didnt do nething to his car nothin jsut out of the lot just like i said. when i did drive his car against him i noticed that his tires would pick up but in the long run also his car seems to pick up on the road harder then mine and i was wonderin if its jsut the tires. to nebster i drove his car against him and i beat him bay a car and a half just liek i siad on my first post just to make sure it wasnt my driving and.

okay, it is LAUNCH, not lunch.

i'm going to say it is all in the tires, and maybe you've worn your down a bit and he is getting better traction off the line and most drag races are made in the first 60 feet.

actually the the 06 is slower because it has less hp.

07 = 160 hp
06 = 150 hp

for all 07 models, there was a new way to test scions. they did the same test for an 06 and it was 150 hp.

even dyno's show it

i read this in a magazine

A stock 06 will not dyno at 150whp nor will a stock 07 dyno at 160whp. Dynos don't show engine hp, they show wheel horsepower (the amount of power that actually makes it to the wheels)

And then there's the whole issue about the OP and the guy he raced both having '07s...

I would say tires did the deed.

Do us ALL a favor and don't race - unless it's on a track.
Insurance is bad enough already...

+1(tires) you said his car launches better, right? maybe its your tires... since it's from the factory it has those fresh stock tires... just a guess... good luck in figuring out...

just wondering, who weighs more, you or your friend? coz that's what me and my buddies are debating on, whether losing weight(of an actual person) is a part of weight reduction(ex. carbon fiber hood, light weight battery etc...)LOL... joke...
