Default DISCONTINUATION OF SCIONS?!?!

A friend told me he read an article in a mag what he thinks is "Car and Driver" and it said they would stop making Scions late 2007. Because it costs too much to make them and they aren't getting enough for them. And I AM ABOUT to get a tC. Kinda makes me not want one if this is true. I also remember reading a thread about it a while back. Is this true?!?!

I hope not cuz I plan on getting an xB soon. Whadda ya mean they aren't getting enough? They raise the price every year. And how can they be expensive to make. I think that's BS as in not true.

Scions are one of the most successful introductions in Cars... no way would they discountinue them....

There has always been talk of model changes every three or so years, which are coming due now... but realistically, they keep things pretty quiet until they WANT things to get out....

If they discontinued Scions... it'd be BIG BIG news....

Longo is best from what I hear! That's why I'm getting my xB from there when it comes time.

Never Happen IMHO, Scion Demand is Very Strong, Just Look at our Resale Values.

However , Toyota may Cancel the Camry.

Car and Driver:
Pricing Set for 2007 Scion tC and tC Spec Package

The Daily Auto Insider
Tuesday, May 23, 2006
May 2006

Toyota's Scion brand announced pricing for the 2007 tC and a new tC Spec Package.

The tC Spec Package rides on steel wheels with unique wheel covers and 205/55R16 tires and features special front-end treatments. It comes in four exterior colors, Super White, Flint Mica, Black Sand Pearl and Classic Silver Metallic. Inside, the tC receives a fixed glass panorama roof, unique upholstery, and urethane steering wheel.

Aside from the new Spec Package, the tC carries over for 2007 with updated seat fabric, a sun visor with a sliding extension and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The tC Spec Package will have a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $15,000 for models with manual transmissions and $15,800 for models with automatic transmissions. The base MSRP for the Standard tC with a manual transmission is $16,400, and $17,200 for an automatic transmission, an increase of $100 for each.

i'd personally don't mind for the tC to be discontinued. then there won't be more on the road than what's already out there. i don't mind if scion goes either, but that would make it look like scion failed as an auto maker company.

I honestly couldn't see Scion being shut down. They make some nice cars.

If Scion was going to be discontinued, Toyota would not be building concepts (Fuse) under that name this late in the game.

First of all Scion is not going anywhere.....too successful, too profitable!
Next up, if for some reason it did go it would likely be because it had been so successful.... Lets remember the true marketing purpose of Scion was to attract the younger generations into the Toyota Brand and then hopefully keep them for life. The only way to drop Scion is if the models were given Toyota names and kept in production. Chevy did this with Geo a while back, though this is not comparable at all.
