distributor
........i thought only carbuerated cars had distributors.....fuel injected cars have coil packs.......
i'm no mechanic....but i'm pretty sure fuel injected also means distributorless ignition.....

My 89 Topaz had a distributor and it was fuel injected, but I believe it was the older throttle body injected like a carb. Just about every modern electronic multi-port fuel injected motor will use a coil pack. A distributor is mechanical with a rotor that as it spins, distributes power to whatever plug the rotor is completeing a circuit to from a single coil. In a distributor-less situation, each plug has it's own coil and firing is controlled by the ECU.
The distributor was used in cars with a single coil generating the High Voltage current. It was called distributor becase it would distribute the HV current among the spark plugs using a rotating mechanical device.
In the tC, the spark-plug end of each cable has a built-in coil, so no distributor is required. The Electronic Ignition Module (controlled by the computer) determines when to fire each cylinder and sends a 12V signals to each cable that are then transformed in High Voltage in the coil, therefore producing a spark in the cylinder.

^^^^thanks for the clarification.....i knew i wasn't far off.......
no scrappy.......the spark plugs go down inside the head sticking into the combustion chamber.....hehehe i called you scrappy.....
