Default Does anyone have info on the xB Turbo?

I was at the dealership and was told there was a turbo xB coming out in the somewhat near future. Does anyone have any info. Thanks!

The dealer said that it should be available in the next 90 days and that it would add about 50 horse at the engine and 60 on the road. He also said that a 4ft moon roof is coming out soon for the xB. I am holding off on ordering until both of these are available but I almost can't stand it now.

how can you get more ponies at the road than what the engine makes?

are you using the same logic as that dry heat bs.

I don't know nearly enough about engine output to answer that. I was just passing on info. Could just be some dealer bs to make the turbo sound more powerful.

It'll prbably boost it about 40-45 at most...and with the weight of the car, that'll be a nice kick... plus this car is only a cruiser anyway IMO.

90 days? I don't know where you're dealer got that information but he's off his rocker. There were people last summer saying it would be out by SEMA but that never happened.

It is true that the prototype was putting about 50hp at the flywheel, but it's not anything like the production model is going to be from what I've been told. Also, TRD has essentially put the project on hold and are focusing on the tC right now. As for the moonroof, I haven't heard anything about a factory one being developed but there are lots of good aftermarket kits out there!

I thought it was a super-charger.

a supercharger wouldn't do anything on an engine this size.

Anyone waiting for a turbo engined XB to buy theirs is going to have to wait a rather long time.
Why would anyone make a car shaped like the XB go fast??
I bought the box just because it is a slow comfortable car. For fast I use my 90 CRX stripped to the bones and with an integra type R engine swap.. Low 13's at over 100 MPH, 105 to be precise.
You CANNOT do that on a turbo charged XB.

I am not looking for good times in the quarter or amazing acceleration. I just want a little more power out of the engine and if I could get a TRD turbocharged engine I was going to wait. If you guys are telling me not to hold my breath then can you reccomend some other ways to boost the horsepower a little.

The Tc utilizes a 5psi eaton supercharger to make up to 40hp. I seriously doubt that a supercharger would do nothing to the 1.5 litre. I agree that a turbo is more efficient. I wasnt debating whether or not to put a supercharger on the xb, i was simply saying that i heard from numerous sources that it would be a supercharger.

Why not make it fast?! Surprisingly, the box shape has no bearing on its drag coefficient. From that I heard, it's .35, which is pretty damned good for a car with such a non-aerodynamic look. Check here for comparative numbers... http://www.darklair.com/cd.html

As far as the factory turbo'ed Scion goes... it's not coming from what I heard. Speaking with a regional Scion manager about it, he suggested the Blitz kit or a Greddy JDM kit. He said there are no plans for an xA or xB Turbo.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on ANYTHING a dealer says unless its on paper from a reputable source.

chewd0g... The truth of the matter is, there is a TINY weight difference between the xA and the xB, there isn't much if any noticable difference in accelleration no matter what anyone says, so thats that...

sometimes it makes me wonder how dealers for the same damn car can have suh different information. my dealer said that the turbo was canned, and that the supercharger is coming out by the end of the year.

For the newbies.
ET (elapsed time) tells you how good the driver is.
trap speed tells you how good the engine is.

Tell me how many NA street driven 4 cylinder cars run the 1/4 mile at 105 MPH.
I suck at drag racing, I never said I was good at it.

WHy not just swap out the 108hp xB engine with a 190hp 4 cylander Celica engine? If you got the money I am sure it could be done, but IMO, a turbo on an xB is pointless and a waste. If you want to go fast, get a sports car.
