Default Does anyone have this issue

OK,i have a 06 scion tc,right i normally dont use the ac in the car,i just dont like it,unless i truly have to use it,well the other day,it was pretty hot,to a point where the air wasnt good to breathe in,i said ok ill use the ac,when i did i noticed the ac takes so much power away from the car,its to a point where, feels like a slug,i cannot shift smoothly, almost like a i cant drive,im like why is this...just curious if anyone else has this issue,is it common or just me,if this is the case,i aint use it or just taking it out

The a/c is definitely a parasitic accessory on this car. It's completely normal.

I noticed this the other day while i was in traffic and had to use the a/c.
Wonder if anything would help this issue?

I get the same thing. You would think with the amount of power that is robbed we would actually get colder air. Weak AC is my only real dislike about this car.

here to,people are curious why i refuse to use the a/c....they dont understand how much power it robs, and changes the way the car drives...some tell me you just need your feet to drive not power, when the a/c is on which rarly it is,i cant drive smooth for nothing i feel helpless, when its off,im happy ...i really hope there would be a solution for this...but for me,i never liked the a/c wanna hear my car with the windows down, didnt buy it for luxury...

Same here, the A/C makes the car feel soooooo slow and useless. I hate using it. I used it for the first time this past month when i was soooooo sun burned that the warm air was hurting my shoulders lol. I turned it off and sucked it up because my car felt useless.

wow,i'm happy i'm not the only one,the worse part is,is that when you have people in the car,and you try to make them feel as comfty as possible, then when the a/c is on then it make it look like you cant drive the car.,...even though you try to..the a/c isnt good to beging with,so why have it rob the power...after all these yrs of owning the car, just figured this out,i tested it before i bought the car,but never drove it with it on,first time for everything

^definitely glad to see this is common. i always thought i looked like a turd when i shifted bad with it. haha.

i was wondering if possibly changing the size of the pulley on the a/c compressor would help it?

It's unfortunately normal for this car and supposedly when you drive "spirited" it shouldn't be affected because the ECU would correct things. Fail.

Dude my tune goes to sh** when I use the a/c I would running at 14.7 on my wideband but as soon as my ac is tuned on it goes to like low 13s and bounces arouind when driving. Just rip it out. No use in having it unless your like in 110 degree weather.

Well something has to power the compressor for the A/C. What I dislike the most is how jerky the shifts become. I think the worst scenario is when it's really hot/humid outside, but it's raining, so now all the parts are wet AND you're draining the car of it's power. Honestly though this is normal for small 4-cylinder cars I think.

This is why people who race, turn off the a/c.
not only to warm up the engine, but because it runs slower.
Its normal for a/c to take away from the power, and not only on tC's. lol.

yup, honestly i dont mind on somedays using the a/c...and takes the power away but cant do smooth shifts half the time is what i dont like...ive been in other 4 -cylinder cars, and others arent as bad,yea take away power but you can actually drive the car, even on the express way, when the a/c on,and at a steady speed, car trys to jerk back and fourth a little bit

Even in an automatic you can feel the compressor engaging and the resistance it causes. It's more noticeable in the tC than any other car I've been in.
