I just sent in my bail by mail last week for my second ticket. I did not schedule a court appointment , and i knew i couldnt take traffic school twice in less than 18 months.
then i found this site, do you guys think i can use this info and mail the court? do you think they'll send me a refund? or is it too late?

Someone told me that if the cop makes a mistake on the ticket that you may be able to fight it. I know i was speeding, but I really can't afford to have my insurance skyrocket. He descibed my car as a "Toyota sedan". Does anyone know if this car could be considered a sedan? I always thought it was a coupe.
It's technically a '3-door passenger vehicle' at least according to Mercury Insurance.

I have multiple speeding tickets from when I started driving--I'm not proud of being that stupid, but fact remains.

I've had my tC for four months, and I have yet to be pulled over. My last car... I got pulled over every other week.

I don't know of any police departments that have (or at least admit to having) quotas, but just about ALL of them will compare the records of each officer to the other officers: "Hey, officer Smith has 40 violators this week how come you've only got 20 so far Bob?"

In most deparments the most "productive" officers are the ones who will get the raises and promotions. And in quite a few the evaluations are done on a monthly basis, which is why the superstition about cops doing more speed-trapping towards the end of the month seems to always be more or less true.

middle of the night, i took off at a light with nobody else on the road, got up to the speed limit and set the cruise control. blue lights came on, and he wrote me up for drag racing. fought it and won, though.

You can't get out of tickets because of a cop's mistake on a ticket... as long as they have enough info to know who you are and how to get a hold of you.

Where I live, Sugar Land, TX (suburb of Houston), cops have handheld automatic ticket writers. All they do is swipe our driver's license, punch in the license of our car, and check off our violations. We sign the screen on the handheld unit and it prints the ticket on the other side.......

Crazy....

hmm.. when i was in an accident, the state trooper gave me a citation for "failing to yield on a left turn" and she wasn't even there to witness it!! the date she wrote on the ticket was wrong, and also in the box that says "collision", she marked no.. when there really was..

No, the tC does not attract cops. Driving like an idiot attracts cops. You take the risk, you assume all consequences.

I dunno... just the other day a cop took a good long hard look at mine while it was parked and I was inside at lunch... maybe he wants to buy one or something.

It's not the tC that attracts cops, it's the speeding. I've had my car for a year, with many ticket worthy mods, and have yet to get pulled over.

Do you work for a police department where this has happened to you?

Just tell 'ol chief you don't generally hunt for nitpick stuff like emitting smoke for 10 seconds, or having headlights at an improper distance from the ground, you prefer to hunt for violations that threaten public safety, or other more severe crimes.

I'm sure its been said before, but some people just don't get it... Police dont hunt for sporty bright colored cars. Think of the old saying, "The nail that sticks up, gets hammered."

Me personally? I was pulled over MANY more times in my old 02 Sierra with loud dual Flo's (it drew attention). I drive no different in my TC.

Tickets? Heh. More often than not its easier just to go talk option to the court clerk ie. defensive driving or defered adjudication. Everyone screws up eventually, even police. If you think your being nitpicked or harassed pick up a book of traffic law, and read up on all the crap you could get cited for.

well this is a 3 year old thread but ill say it anyways.
you cant get out of a ticket because of a cops mistake.
i had 2 seperate tickets written for the same incident.
1 was correct, the other had the wrong date on it.
i talked to my attorney t o see if it would stand in court because it had the wrong date on it, he said yes, itll still stand.
so theres really nothing you can do about incorrect tickets.
