electric shock
where do you live? here in socal there is a santa ana (desert wind) blowing in. that plus flowers realeasing pollen in the air, which builds up static charge as they brush over your car while you drive, could be causing your static electricity predicament.
Just a thought.....
I h8 it when people say that someone should have went to another site or searched on this site for hours to find the info. they need! To a certain extent i understand not wanting 300 threads of the same question. However, I also think that if someone has a car question ASK IT!!!

Here's another possibility: by any chance you wear a uniform/work clothes? It could be the wool content of your clothing (socks, pants, etc.) that's generating the static...not sure about cottons tho..
AS for me, never got a static (yet)
