Default Emergency Brake Light: Comes on when rapidly accelerating.

I have an '05 5MT with 58k miles.

Noticed the last few days that when I am pulling away from a red light or accelerating rapidly up a hill, that my E-Brake light comes on briefly as I'm winding out.

I saw that on the turnpike it was doing it last weekend and verified that my brake was in fact not on and just let my foot off the gas and coasted and it maintained the speed relatively speaking.

Anyone else have this issue?

Discuss.

That sounds like low brake fluid level.
You must have very little left on your front brake pads.

You're saying my brake pads are low? Hmm... I'll have to check them I guess. You think my fluid may be low too? I'll check that too...

Thanks.

58K on original pads is a lot.
It's time for your brake service.

Low brake fluid is one of the symptoms of low pad wear.

No problem.

Your brake fluid level should correct its level when new pads are installed. No need to top off the reservoir.

So does my tC at the moment..I did 60k with the original brakes. I can't get new pads & fluid until the 28th. My dealer could only fit me in until that day. It's my fault for making the appointment that late cause I wait while getting service and I like doing it on Fridays since Fridays mean Saturdays to my working schedule. Good times to sit and relax or goofing off in the showroom area. As consultants try to throw me into another car. Since they are Chevy dealer also they have nice black Z06 Vette sitting in the new showroom...I think I'll goof off over there for second. How did Carmax score this $75k Vette to sell brand new and is expecting local Wisconsinites & Pennyheads to buy it is complete mystery?

Hey guys, i've noticed my light has been randomly coming on. The only thing is that my car only has 24.300 miles on it and only use the brakes when I need to. Could this be a electronic problem. I had a service done at 20,000 miles and the dealership did not bring up any serious wear on the pads and they refilled the fluids.

I too have the same problem. I only have 25k on my brakes. I do hear kind of a grind sometimes when I first start driving the car after sitting for awhile. I am getting new brakes next friday but I just want to make sure this is the same problem. That dam light comes on the same time everyone else is stating. But do I need rears as well or just fronts?

topping off the fuild really isnt the fix. if you are an aggressive in braking you can easily burn through your pads in 25K 30k miles is about life expectancy. if that light is coming you need to replace your pads and machine your roaters.

Well I was at min. with my brake fluid, filled it up to max & no brake light this morning on the drive to work. Will be watching it for the next couple weeks to see if that fixed my problem.

Thanks SLers for the tips, hope it fixed my problem

The thing is once you put new pads on all the fluid that is in the lines is now going to fill up the resivior and spill over. The fix is to change your pads not top off the fluid.

58k... HA
75k on the original pads .... i'm a downshifting fool, habit.

I am glad i checked the forums today because I noticed my car doing this as well, a quick 'break light' coming on when accelerating.
