Engine won't start -- clicking
Hi guys,
I did a search about the clicking sound but seems like opinions vary on what causes it. Here's my story:
06' TC was working fine. One morning I go out, push down the clutch, turn the key and all i get is a clicking sound. Lights came on, radio came on, etc. I thought it might be battery so I tried to jump it with my wifes car. No luck on the jump. So then I think it might corroded connections. So I clean out the terminals and still no go. I'm hoping its not the starter or alternator.
I think what I'll try next is to take out the battery and take it to autozone and get it tested. Do you guys think it is the battery or should i focus on the starter/alternator? Any other advice?
Thanks in advance!

Clicking = Dead Battery.
When you tried to jump it, did you give it like 5-10 minutes while the other car was running? You have to give it some time to get some juice into your battery. And it would be normal that your lights/radio work and it still not start. There could be enough juice to power that stuff without issue but not enough to turn the engine over.

I think it specifically says not to push start it like that. Also do not put both clamps on the dead batt. On the dead batt one of the clamps goes to the positive terminal on the batt, and the neg clamp should be put on a ground somewhere as far as possible from the batt in the engine bay. You can mess up a new cars electronics by putting both pos/neg clamps on the dead batt. When trying to jump as well, give it some time, and keep the Jumping vehicle's rpm's up, so that it will have extra juice to send over to the dead car. Other wise the car that trying to jump will only charge its own batt.
1) Your alternator is shot, meaning it is not charging the battery.
2) Your battery is shot, meaning there is a bad cell within the battery
3) Your car has some type of parasitic drain.
Your best bet it to locate the cause of the problem, not temporarily fix it or you'll be stranded somewhere when it dies again.
