Ever run out of gas?
I've had the car just over a week and I wanted to know just how far I could go on one tank. I had the needle down to the empty line and got REALLY nervous. So I got gas. Almost 300 miles. Half city, half highway. Now when the car is off the needle dips well below the empty line. How low does the needle go before youre out of gas? Anyone know?
I've had it below the needle line and lets just not take it much farther past the line cuz my car started stalling at all redlights and I barely got it to a gas station, so dont push your luck.
Still getting used to the smaller tank and slightly worse mileage than my Camry, and I've gone below the needle a couple times now. You definitely feel the engine skip a beat when that happens, and then it really becomes a race to the gas station.
It never seems like I have enough. I park the car with just under 1/4 tank left, and when I start it in the morning the needle goes down to the line.

I dont like to run low on gas. I usually fill up around half to a quarter. But this car is new and I just wanted to get an idea as to how far I could go before I was stranded. My last car had a DTE (destination to empty) digital readout so I knew just how far I could go. I dont like to run less than a quater tank and dont plan to, again. I just wanted to know in case I get that low.
Thanks for all the feedback.

Wow, only 300 miles? I pushed my first tank for 40 miles after the gas light went on. 390 miles on my first tank of gas. Had 1.5 gallons left I think.
I'll never let myself run out. I fill up between the 1/4 tank mark and the gas light. I try to avoid letting the gas light go off. With Chicago traffic the way it is, I don't wanna be stuck in bumper to bumper with my gas light on.

I dont know if it makes a difference but this is my first stick and I tend to rev it more than I should a lot of the time. I wear heavy boots to work and then when Im just driving around I have on sneakers. So its like when Im going to work I have to get used to the heavy boot and I end up revving the engine. Then after I have to get used to the sneakers and I end up revving again cause the difference in the weight. You know what I mean.

I came really close to running out of gas this morning actually. I got 24.5mpg on my first two tanks, 26mpg on my third, and 25mpg on this last one. So with 25mpg I should theoretically be able to get 362.5 miles on a tank. I was at about 340 miles and the car started sputtering on the on-ramp to the interstate. I drive mostly city. Hope that helps ya out.
Then it is due to something else.. the whole operational concept of an intake is to draw in a more dense charge, thus more fuel. Any intake mfgr that claims both power and mpg increase is simply lying. An intake in no way makes anything more efficient
i just normally fill up when the light comes on. i have chanced it, and if i drive nice, not revving and all that stuff, the longest i went right when the light came on was about 40 miles....which isnt too bad i dont think.
most ive been on a tank, about 375...i was actually really suprised...normally i only get like 320 or so.
freeway and city driving. but really, think about how you drive your car. you rev to the redline every gear and drive like that, it makes a HUGE difference, from 275 miles a tank, to if you drive nice, dont acceleratge fast ect, im sure the TC can get 400+ a tank if conditions are right and stuff.
thats my insight.

its bad on your fuel pump to run your car low on gas...its a new car so it probably not going to damage it the way it would an older car, but its not good.
iv run low one time cuz i forgot my wallet and i was trying to make it home one day, i tried taking a sharp turn and the gas rolled to the other side of the tank and the car bogged down as if i let go of the pedal. and as i started getting closer to my house i had to shift before 2800 rpms or it would do the same thing.
BTW...this is my 50th post, Yeah for me!!
