extending antenna wire to relocate antenna???
just out of curiosity, have anyone extended their factory antenna wire and relocated the antenna? my main concern is if i cut the stock antenna and reconnect it, i might lose some reception. any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
you gonna shave it? nice.
in all honesty there are plenty of ways to extend the cable, just cruise by any car audio shop and pick up and extension.... don't cut the cable (it's a coax and is super lame to repair)
you won't necessarily notice in change in reception unless you stash it in a crazy place. personally if i were to shave mine it'd be stashed in the rear fender above the wheel well, just inside where i'd be takin it off to shave

^ that's a great idea, if you don't have front side-curtain airbags.
coax cable IS one inside the other. it can be repaired, but it just kinda sucks and is time consuming. you'll wanna solder the inside pins together (the one you cut onto an extension coax cable) then take the shielding from those cables and solder em together.
however, antennas are cheap, and so are coax cables. cruise by a best buy and pick up a cheap rubber antenna, or better yet they have an amplified window antenna that you can pick up, grab a 12' extension and run a comletely new antenna from your headunit to your desired mounting location.
good luck!
