Factory LED option fix?

It's not LEDs that are the problem, it's the cheap-___ set up that only uses ONE LED. C'mon, that's less than $10 worth of equipment plus a plastic tube. I paid around $20 for dual 12 inch LED tubes that have about 10 LEDs each. Mounting is simple. Randode's kit will blow away the stock setup too. and costs less than half as much. You'll like your lights even more when you DIY than that cheesy factory setup...

It's actually one LED on one side of the tube. That is the cause for the weak glow. If I had known to expect it.. .i wouldnt have paid $250 for it. The cup holder is fairly decent though. It's only 2 LEDs. Here's a better pic.

Notice that this is complete darkness. Very disappointing.

You are correct. 4 LEDs into the tube. I also noticed there is a white part on the tube. Does it matter which end of the tube the LEDs are going into? Also, where should the white part face? (upwards?)
i would like to know where the LEDs are mounted in the cupholders. My sister didnt get the LED option cause i knew i could do it a lot cheaper and better. Can someone tell me where they mounted the LEDs inside the cupholders?
Thanks!
Thanks!
WOW guys!! the pics that you put up of the LED's, i can't even see them!! are you sure they're the factory ones you paid $250 for??? cuz i got those, and damn my are like 100 times brighter than that! and sorry, i don't have a digital camera to post up pics. but if you go on the scion website, and check out the LED accessory, and you see the blue pic, mine are a little bit brighter than those.
The reason the pictures are so dark is because these people aren't using the flash, for obvious reasons - use the flash and you won't see the lights.
Something you guys might try is this: change the exposure timing on the camera to MUCH longer. This will allow the film to be exposed to much more light. You may be able to get a much better representation of what you really get. You should also be able to do this with a digital camera, but I am unsure.
I currently have the Amber package. I will agree that the lights are not very bright, but they still have a decent effect, especially the cup holders. Also the auto-dimming mirror seems to have an amber light emmitting from the bottom of it. I don't know if this is standard or not, but I am glad it matches.
I have a couple questions though, maybe something Randode can answer. Is it possible to install a cold cathode setup with the LED wiring I already have installed? Would this be something as simple as splicing the wires and reconnecting them? Could I install multiple cathodes to the same wires?
I am not much of an electronics person, don't understand the actual workings behind it, but I can follow directions and if this is easy then I may replace the LED tubes and add additional cathodes.
I also understand there is no Amber or Orange cold cathodes but that you can get white cathodes with orange tubes. I would like to add more to the setup but also want to use the existing switch setup.
Thanks for any help.

Randode's kit makes it really easy to install and is pretty good, it comes with everything you need. you can also get the cathodes froma a store or on line, but then you need to do some work by yourself. You also need to get some other stuff.
either way it cathodes are the way to go. it just depends on how much work you want to do by yourself and how capable you are.
Hi,
Could you send a rough drawing of how your kit is installed? Where do you get the power? How much interior do you have to take appart?
Also, what I would really like is to have it hooked up so it turns on when you unlock car or open doors.
