Default Fixing A Big Dent (Picture Story) 56K WARNING!

Let me tell you guys a little story.

So last night I got hit and run.

My tC was hurting so I decided to give it a quick heal.

In the morning, I decided to write a sad little note on the band aid.

It looks even worse in the daytime.

Well because I was desparate, I went to Pep Boys to buy this thing. It cost me 20 bucks. It's a scam, don't buy it cause it doesn't work. Especially on newer cars. Maybe it was the clear coat and all the wax I put on the car, but the glue wouldn't stay one for the damn thing to work. Wasted 20 bucks and a couple hours of my life. I even have a video of it in action not working, but I don't have anywhere to upload the .mov file.

Because the Dent King didn't work, I decided to get serious. That's when I posted a a topic on hear asking if anyone knew how to remove the rear bumper. Luckily someone helped me. I don't remember the name off hand, sorry. But thanks!

I popped out the dent just using my hands, but here's a pic of me in my frustration with the car.

Doesn't look that bad right?

Right?

Here's how it looked from a couple feet back and after a little waxing to get some small scratches out.

A night shot. You can't really see it unless you're looking for it. There's stilla small circular dent.

There you really can't see it. I just have to always take pics while shaking the camera. It's okay, that's where my model will stand – covering the dent.

Do you guys have any tips on how to remove small little dings and dents like that. I must've used that Dent King ____ 20 times after I popped out the dent with my hands. I still couldn't get the little ones out!

Help!

I hoped you enjoyed my little story...

I tried Ding King on my Corolla and it helped a little. But not like the box indicated. Least you were able to knock most of it out. I am now having my fender/front bumper replaced due to some idiot who backed into my car (though I had parked in the back lost).

Wow, I have pretty much the same dent in my rear bumper, also a hit and run when I was parked. I thought that it could probably be popped out, but I wasn't sure. Not really being a car savvy kind of chick (yet), I was crawling around trying to figure out how one might do that. Not that I'd try--no good could come of me doing anything myself. I actually just called it in to my insurance company, and eventually (if it lands in this continent, say) I'm just getting a new bumper cover. Glad I opted for the lowest deductible--it shouldn't affect my rates since it was a hit and run and since I've never called in anything in the many years I've been with my insurer. I really would like to have it popped out in the interim, though. I wanted to try those dent removers, but I don't think they're meant to work with the material the bumper cover is made of.

I hope you called the police and filed a report before you fixed it. You probably could have gotten some insurance money (depending on your deductible).

hi man
sorry about the big ding,as you know now plastic bumpers have a memory and you cant always get all of it out from tha back, this happened to me also and i took a heat gun and used it to push tha small dent that stayed, hold it about 6" away from back of bumper and use your finger to press dent out, dont get in a hurry, tho and dont get to close with tha heat.hope this works for you.

In regards of the small dint or dent that is still on the bumber.. try this:
Get a bucket of hot water and a towel, soak the towel with water and start rubbing the dented part with it until it pops out.

Anyone have experience with the heat gun? I don't really want to mess up the bumper. The hot water thing sounds a little more safer but I think the water needs to be really really hot.

I just noticed that my license plate showed in all the pics. I forgot to photoshop them. Damnit! Anyone know what a person can do with your plate numbers/letters?

Don't worry about your license plate... people see it everyday when you are driving around or even when you're parked, so don't worry about it!

The hot water thing will only work on the bumper because it's plastic.... it's not going to work on sheets of metal

*****. Is there anything that I can do to pop the door dings? Would I be able to pop them by removing the door panal and poping them from the backside?

I always park my car away from everyone... Usually a corner spot where I try my best to stay away from the next car. Becareful not to rub the rims against the curb.. haaa... :D

This help, but no gurantee... My last few cars, I still got dings somehow... Compare to most other cars, quite a lot less dings..

When I got back to my car.. I will check for dings... I always tell my wife that if I ever caught the car that give me ding... He/She is goint to be very sorry when they come back to their car... Sorry... Don't mean to sound evil... So far, the Axx Hxxx that give me the ding are long gone... The car that park next to me now isn't the one that give me the ding.

I only caught a old lady that gave me a ding.. She was so old... took her forever to get out from her car... I didn't even say anything to her... just let her go her way...

Even though I was probably the only one who noticed that the dent was still there, I was determined to rid of it even more. I took the advice of some guys that replied here and took a heat gun (my blow dryer) AND some hot water with towels. After burning my hands a couple times this is how it turned out.

It got a little bit more of the big bend out and the rest of it is pretty much gone. What I sorta noticed tho is that it sorta warped my bumper...I don't know...the pictures here don't really show the dent at all anymore, but you'll notice it if you really look at the pictures. Sadly, the dents are still noticeable and are not totally gone...yet...

If you try the heat gun/blow dryer thing on your car, be sure not to get it too hot! While trying to get rid of one dent, you might actually push out other parts of the bumper causing and even more noticeable mishap.

Anyways, while removing my bumper the second time, I noticed that I chipped part of my paint on the bumper...Sigh...this just keeps getting worse and worse!

Edit: I just noticed I typed "PAIN chip" instead of "painT chip". Oh well, it still makes sense...it is a pain chip after all...

Oh yeah, notice my ScionLife license plate frame! Oh yes! GO SCION LIFE!

Default Pain in the A%^ Dent

I am so freakin angry that someone just backed into the front of my scion tc when I left it at the airport and drove off, but what would I expect, a not on my window.

Ha, People now a days just drive away and dont care, even though the scion tc was Brand New at that time being a 07 and all. Now my front bumper looks like somone backed up a little, slide their rear bumper on my front one and pulled forward and just drove away....

There are two scratches going length ways down were the top grill is on the actual bumper and a dent the size of a quarter that is just black scrapped bumper instead of my silver I miss in that area.

I have not tried the heat gun or blow dryer... my biggest concern is if that works, how would I fix the color problem... I am kind of a noob when it comes to covering up paint problems on bumpers and fixing bumper dents... but I need someones help.

I am installing a grill and I dont want the scratches and dent to be an eyesore.

any help would be appreciated.

Oh and Scion TC's Rule.... Awesome Cars, no doubt about it!!!!
