yeah... a show and advertising thing. A sequential setup with a centrifugal setup is practically pointless since it doesnt address the one aspect of fi that sequential setups are supposed to.

What? The S/C providing boost in the lower RPM range and the turbo provonding boost in the upper RPM range?

^^ That is what a sequential setup is supposed to do (eliminate lag.. lets you run a larger turbo while still having boost at a lower rpm). The issue is that a centrifugal unit like this one doesnt produce boost as linearly and quickly as a roots type blower, which would be the better option.

For all of the complexity of this system and potential areas to fail, at most they will produce a little more boost with the same delay. Either a small turbo sequenced to a large one or a roots type blower (which would be tough to fit in our car) in line with a large turbo would be a better idea.

But honestly, with the amount of boost most of the tC's can handle without building the engine, you can find a suitable turbo that will produce the numbers and spool early. I dont see there being much benefit in this.

If someone wanted to really address lag and boost, and spend a ton of money (which the above setup would take to make it operate properly and engine safe), it would be more interesting to look into adjustable vane compressors like those used in Porche or the new Acura's. One turbo, nearly zero lag and nice amounts of boost.
