why do people pay for a brand new car, but are too cheap to pay for a $10 mod?

If he's chopping the top of the stock antenna off, wouldn't you have to buy a device that is used for cutting or sawing?

I guess you could bend it over your knee a couple of times until it snaps off...

I'm most curious myself...

First off, if I had a shorter antenna would I get the same/better radio reception? Second, how do you get a "free" shorter antenna?

Side cutters. Or really big scissors.

Great for those too cheap to drop 20 bucks for better radio reception and a nicer looking antenna.

why would someone even contemplate cutting the stock antenna? All it would be is the same thing but shoter so it really wouldn't look any better and its probably as long as it is for a reason, just get an after market stubby or s-2000 ant.

Default stub antenna

The radio pick-up still works perfect. I was cleaning my car and thought of the idea, and no I'm definitely not cheap when it comes to my car. If you happen to try this, just after cutting, take the rough off the top with sand paper, and use a gloss black paint to touch up the top. Let me know what you think.....

I too just did this lastnight, I don't use the radio anyways, I have XM. I was looking at one of the short antenna's online and one design looks exactly like stock but with out the long wire thing comming out at the end. So what I did was I took a tiny saw, and cut it right off. It was alot esier than I though after that I used sand paper to make the cut even. And now looks just like any short stubby antenna that is unless you look directly ontop of the tip (which no one is tall enough to do so) then you'll see that it's been cut. but other than that no one can really tell. All this took me less than 5 mins.
