Default front windshield cracked =(

So I was driving home with the music turned pretty high. Suddenly i hear a loud crack!

I shut off the music, and bam, there was a dime sized crack on my 1 month old tC...

At the momemnt, I am quite upset and disapointed. So many things have gone wrong in the first month of having this car. Actually just yesterday, my rims were scratched, but that was my own fault =(.

I just have a question, how much would it probably be to replace the windshield, and if by any chance, is it covered somehow?

I searched the forums and some people said they had their windshields replaced, some said it was covered.

No, your dealer will not cover a windshield crack if it was caused by road debris. Would they cover damages caused by you hitting a bridge abutment? Same idea, just different extent. Check with your insurance, some cover, some don't.

insurance should cover that. the windshield in my xB got cracked after sometihng hit it while i was driving. i took it to the insurance place and told them i was following a truck and something fell off and hit it. they replaced it for free. appearantly insurance covers it no matter what because its a driving hazard.
that may only be in floirda though.

that may be

Bring it to an auto glass place. They MIGHT be able to fix it. If not you'll need to get a new windshield. Check your insurance policy, if it says you have "full glass" coverage then they will pay for it, otherwise you'll have to fork it over. It might run you $300 or so if you have to pay for it.

Glass coverage is the best thing, I've had to replace two windshields on my last car.

since i see ur from flushing and i wish i was home, sorry off topic, if ur insurance doest or does cover it, try going to the junkyards by shea (i know u know where they are), i cracked my camry windshield a few yrs back and they replaced it for pretty cheap. just go back and forth for a while til u hear a good price, then tell them someone down the block said they would do it for less.
god i miss home.
i cant wait to go back for new years!!!

and if u dont know about the junkyards, man r u in for a treat. once i decide on my exhaust im driving home to have them do it for me there!

Yea the people down in shea do a pretty good job on the windshields. So if the dealer nor insurance don't cover it, the junkyards should take care of you.

I don't see any BCP tC's in flushing, i often see some ssm's and sw's

good luck bro,

I have 2 little rocks and lots of nicks in my windshield and its mostly from city driving. My other car's windshield didn't nick as easily. Does anybody know if the tC has a weak windshield? Because frankly, this sucks!

At least you don't have a windshield made by subaru. Talkin to my friend who owns 2 subarus(wrx, forrester) He got cracked windshields weeks after buying them brand new. And not from rocks, just straight up cracked. Supposedly subaru windshields are known to be ____ty among subaru owners. But still a new wrx with a cracked windshield would be more fun than a new tc with cracked windshield.

Whether or not it will be covered by your insurance, depends on the coverage you have on your policy. If you have comprehensive with zero deductable, you'll get it fixed or replaced for free. If you didn't get the "glass breakage" under comprehensive, you may be paying the bill yourself. Good luck.

if the damage is smaller then a quarter in size then its "repairable" as oppsed to replacing the whole thing. I don't know how much they charge out there but we do them for 59.95. and the good thing about repairing a rock ding is that insurance 99% of the time will pay the whole thing no matter your deductable. Its cheaper for them to pay the 60 bux then a whole replacement that will run you 600bux. And for everyone else... junkyards are a horrible place to get windshields. other glass thats not stationary is fine but do not trust the durability of a used windwhield.. its just not safe. your windshield is a critical structural part in a roll over and its not worth risking you life to save a little money. I might sound like I'm preaching, I just want to get the right info out there. I've done years of training just to make sure we do them right. hope this helps.
