Funny thing...[other forums mentioning tC]
Well I was looking for eyelid covers for the tC when I stumbled across mass forums talking about ours car.
First one I traveled to was the SRT-4 forum, now this was possibly the funniest thing I've ever read. They're all making fun of our car. Then one of em made a joke and called the SRT-4 a Neon, and another member freaked out, and was like we're not a neon!!! Yet, isn't the SRT-4 a Neon body (lines changed a bit), with a turbo PT cruiser engine in it I test drove one, and even though it was fast, I couldn't stand that it was a four door, and a neon. I don't see how they can make fun of our car. Anyway, next thing was the numbers, no one can get out numbers straight they either think we're fat, slow, and ugly, or outrageously fast. Other forums, give us props though, a lot of people want to test drive our car. Most see our car as more luxury then performance, which is true, we have a lot of crap in our cars we don't need that add a helluva lot of weight. Overall, reading from the other forums, its hard to say how people look at our car, we're either called "rice", which ironically we didn't do anything to be called that, or people think we're the xA or the xB *shudders*. Its somewhat annoying that we immediately get dissed when they don't even know us ...hehe
Meh, that was my partial rant/analysis of what other people think about our cars.

Either way, who cares what anyone else thinks. Did anyone buy their car for someone else? Don't bring jealousy or whatever into the argument (because it is not jealousy). Just shrug it off and move on.

posting this stuff will only draw their attention, you're arming a time-bomb.
another way to do it is to make a post about killing a certain make of car, then have other members come in and chime in about how "___" those particular cars are. that works like a charm.
calling out their "neons" and blaming jealousy in response is just fueling the fire.
come on people. pay the rest of the automotive community with the same respect you would like to see from them.

Really, sure blaming everything on jealousy is silly, but don't you think the timb-bomb analogy is just a bit off as well?

Just their personal prefrence or just the thought of superiority. If anything it's probably not jealousy but more of them just being conceided.

It's just jealousy.
I live in a fairly "upscale" part of Orange County, and people driving much more expensive cars slow down to look at my car.
The only time someone has said anything negative to me was to imply that "mom and dad bought me the car." Which would be nice, and I wouldn't have the monthly payment, but whatever.
The Neon SRT is a hot compact car. Yes, only the body is Neon, but at least Dodge finally did something to those eyesores and made them marketable.
I drive around all day knowing that I'm saving money on gas, that I have a nice ride, and I can change lanes whenever I want to... Even if I have to throttle the pedal a little.

Which SRT forum did you go to??? Over at neons.org they are pretty respectful of the tC and the only thing they say about it is that they are heavy and they dont do it in a bad way. They are also willing to except that the srt is in fact a neon. For the few that refused to believe that their beloved srt was a neon, I enailed Chrysler and got the response that the srt is part of the neon family. That pretty much chut to couple of idiots up.

but yeah, i guess they could start calling our cars avensises. soft, cushy, wimpy sedans :D;P and everyone here would throw a fit.
there's nothing wrong with being proud of your car. i love mine, but drop the ego stuff. it will take some time for everyone to start respecting the tC.

I went to the SRT-4 forum, not neons.org , when you get down to it, I was just annoyed that the had to say stuff bout us, when we haven't said anything bout them. I like the SRT-4 its a nice sleeper for those who don't know. I wanted an SRT-4 for a while, and half of the people who posted in the 6 page thread all had different things to say about us, majoritively not good. But whatever, I don't want to start a flame war or nothing...hell I'm still on my Escort ZX2 boards and all those guys are cool, they don't make fun of the tC, hell a lot of em want this car, a lot of em could beat our car too, they might be escorts but they're not as fat as we are. I still get a long with em though. I think its cuz people are rice in a majority. Now here me out, as soon as people start allying together against something, everyone conforms. Like at the SRT-4 forum, a few guys said good things bout our car, but once the bad things start they all followed suit. Its kinda like driving a honda, one person puts on a 8 inch exhaust, everyone follows

Just remember that there are always haters, and it isn;t worth your time stressing out about them because there will always be more. Just concentrate on not becoming a hater yourself!
Ummm.... this is interesting, because I just went to Dodge's website to do a little more research on the SRT-4. Anyone can obviously tell that the SRT-4 is a Neon with a better engine, but I found it interesting to see that Dodge lists the Neon and the SRT-4 on different pages with different headings. On the SRT-4 part of the site it does not mention the word Neon anywhere. (Even the Ram SRT-10 is called a Ram) I wonder how many SRT-4 owners deny that their car is a Neon? Regardless, 230Hp and 250 lb-ft is impressive! Quaife LSD! Unfortunately, that engine is a very high-compression, highly-tuned motor which generally doesn't leave much room for improvement... generally.
Not my cup of tea, but I will definitely think twice before racing the next riced-out Neon I see on the street.

hehe.
the SRT-4 made it's debut without the LSD. sport compact car was able to chase it with a stock mazdaspeed protege, with 170 hp :D
but now that they've put that LSD in, i'll bet it moves.
i fear them.
