Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track
Well friends, it was quite a run in the Tc, but yesterday, I traded er-in on a 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track.
I have a few parting shots and will follow up with my thoughts on the car when it gets here.
1. I really think that pure price is a complete rip-off in these bad economic times, because trade ins are depressed and you cannot haggle down the new car at the same time. My wife haggled a $28k Santa Fe AWD down to $23k, which is only about $4k over the XB that she was also looking at. So for $4k she got AWD, more HP, 18" wheels . . . I have previously posted that pure price just gives the dealers an excust not to go any lower on a car. I on the other hand was able to get the dealer to sell me the Genesis for MSRP, which is less about $4k in markups and delivery costs and was able to get $10,500 for my 2006 Tc.
My previous post had some people come unglued about how great pure price is and how inflated dealer markups are, and after looking at 12 cars b/w the 2 of us at 6 dealers, I have concluded that Toyota is screwing people, because you can talk your way in circles around these people right now.

Your wife got the Santa Fe for $23k b/c that's barely what its worth - no matter the sticker they put on it.
Pure price is what it is and economic times have nothing to with it or haggling. Personally I'm going to do everything I can to NOT haggle a price on my next vehicle. It is an absolutely retarded practice that should not exist. We aren't bartering their goods for mine like we're in the middle of the dust bowl or something. I'm offering them money for a product. Set a price and that is what I'll pay. It's not "set a price thats way too high and see how low people can get you to go." At least it shouldn't be. I refuse to argue with someone over the price of a vehicle. If they can't give me the best price up front with no BS, I won't buy from them.
Anyway.. hope you're happy with the Genesis. I saw a 2.0T Track at our local Hyundai dealer recently. Looked pretty nice, sticker was $26k or something.

dealer mark-ups on Genesis Coupes?!?!?! lol
when the hype goes away in a couple months, people are gonna regret paying mark-ups or even MSRP.
I think if Scion didnt have pure pricing, their prices would be about $2000 more so that people could haggle down to the current pure pricing prices. Other vehicle prices are inflated to adjust for haggling.
Comparing a Scion xB to a Santa Fe is totally an apples vs oranges thing. the xB is based on the new Corolla/Prius platform, so its compariable to a Hyundai Tuscon. the Santa Fe is compariable to a Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, or Mazda CX7. you wouldnt have been able to get $4K off a Tuscon, but you could get $4K of a well-equipped Highlander, Pilot, or CX7.

Ack.... I totally agree with you on those points.... and for your final point... I'm the same way... I'm up front with any business... and car dealers are no different. I tell them straight up...no BS...give me your absolute best price you can do...If I agree with what they come up with is a fair price for the product...then we do business...if not I take my business elsewhere... simple as that...its a joke to waste each other's time going back and forth... I refuse to do it too bro.

Good luck I like the look but you should have waited to trade. The toyobaru is only a few years away that would be a worthy car to invest in. Anyway atleast you have plenty of aftermarket support and you can drift if your into that.
