Only one thing here - do NOT use your cruise control. Vary your speed every 30 or so miles. Other than that just drive normally.

Why are you getting the 05 when the 06 is available?

The 2006 is not available at Sparks Scion. Pretty much i need my car ASAP I dont really care if its Black or Gray but I need to have Side Airbags. I am going to sparks scion in South Carolina just cause I am saving over 1k of taxes and such.

Why is this necessary? Is it so that it forces you to keep your eye on the RPM rather than just cruise and forget? Thanks.

No. Anyone who's broken in an engine will tell you one important thing...do not sustain one speed for an extented period of time. I believe (someone correct me if wrong) that maintaining a constant speed for a long distance while breaking in will cause grooving of the cylinder walls and could shorten the life of the compression seals.

You should vary your speed.

That being said - I did NOT do that with my first car, and the engine was damn near bulletproof for ten years.

A normal break in period is 1000 miles, in your owners book it will tell you to not drive at the same speed and to be easy on the RPMs for the first 1000 miles. Also dont break hard for the first 500 I thin it was.

My dealer Darcars of Frederick gave me a free oil change after 1000 miles, which was not part of the 3 free oil changes that scion gives you. That oil change is to get out any metel peices that might of come off during the breaking in period. After that, race away!

I am getting my 06 tc on the 18th in charleston, sc, 2 hours south of myrtle beach. There is an 06 coming in to columbia center scion on the 17th and 18th that, as of this afternoon, has no buyer. You could cancel with sparks and get it from there. Tim King is the name of the salesperson I dealt with.
