Read Reeces posts. She wanted more power, a change, and just plain likes the VW. Having extra doors in the back for 2 kids is just a bonus.
No offense to some of you younger people but we'll see how many times you change your minds, taste's, opinions, etc. over the years as you get older. Keep that in mind and be a little more open minded and respectful of peoples choices.

Did a quick search, some info here ... http://www.topspeed.com/cars/volkswa...n-ar14387.html
I read the posts and power was a major point, and yes having four doors is a bonus. Did you read what I wrote in the parentheses in the first sentence, I also gave props for the car. It's that alot of people around me lately have looked to getting another vehicle "because I need room for the kids" when I don't think that's necessary. I still like the V-Dub looks though.

sorry i know im just ranting, but 180 hp for a 28,000 car is INSANE......sorry had to vent, a four door si would have been a million times better, 6spd, 200hp, and four door for about 22,000, or hell why not chuck a couple grand more for an STI or EVO, i know i know, im just ranting, but im not hating, i like the car, but the bang for buck value sucks

I didn't see a new car join the family til AFTER my brother joined the Air Force at 18 years of age and I was 13. Do a search for a 1982 Toyota Corolla SR-5 liftback. It's been to Germany twice and the rest in TX and we still have that car. Well the end of that little rant. Sad to see the tC go but congrats on getting the V-Dub, looks nice.
I never once said I changed cars because I have kids, we fit perfectly fine in the tC I wouldnt get anything smaller then the tC but that certainly was not my reason for trading in.

The Fahrenheit GLI standard engine is 2.0L 200 hp, 200 @ 5100 RPM and it is a 6 speed.
The Honda 4 door Si is fugly IMO....
and have you seen the gas mileage for the STI and EVO ?? ...no thanks thats a down grade for me. I chose the VDUB for lots of reasons. only 1200 were made so I wont be seeing this car around like I did the tC the FM's were everywhere. But again just another reason for switching...I have alot of them
Its ok to rant, if and when you have money to trade in you can make your own decision and hopefully people respect you for it but ive made mine and im extremely happy with it.

seriously man, u could have sold those wheels on here, 200hp w/6spd is awesome, hope u can extract at least 60 more ponies, because its still a little too expensive for 200hp, but definitely sounds better!!! LOL
i personnally like colors that stand out, yellow, red, etc

Some of you bagging on the power did not see my first response where the VW/Audi turbo 2.0 can add a lot of hp and trq with a simple ECU reflash.
While TC people have to spend thousands to add 30+hp and 50+tq the 2.0 can do it with $600-700. That's where a "factory" turbo motor is nice.

Car for car there is no comparison and many of you don't look at all the details. The VW has leather, one of the best rated motors, better trans, better brakes. Look at the nicer dash with digital readouts, flat bottom racing style steering wheel so you don't hit your leg getting in and out.
On top of all the extra power that motor still gets as good as gas milage as a TC even with the ECU flash.
The TC is a great entry level car but leave it at that!

If getting in her car everyday puts a bigger smile on her face than the tC, I think that's reason enough. I like VW's myself, I just would never buy one.

Congrats on the new car.. Test drove the GLI before I got my tC, the price was just easier for me at this time..
Oh and in response to the comment about you being too old for more power, my mom is 46 and just traded her 04 RX-8 for a new vette., you are never too old for more power!!
Have fun with the new ride!!
