Default Got the 18" EMX option yesterday.... Toyo Proxies 4!!

Much to my surprise when I picked up my car I was inspecting the new wheels - the Scion 18" EMX wheels which were supposed to have Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S on them... and instead they had 225/40/18 Toyo Proxies 4's.

Needless to say I am thrilled - from my own tire experience (never had the Pirelli's on my own car, but have driven with them) the Toyo PX4's are in my top 4 or 5 tires of all time. Along with S03's, Toyo T1's, etc.

I think I'll call the service dept. and thank them for this generous gift ;-)

i saw a tc yesterday with those rims. they look pretty hot but lowering is a must. the one i saw wasn't lowered and to me it looked like it sat up too high.
... and the way i see it, they should be generous with the tires if they're charging $1500+ for the combo.

Proxies 4's are actually cheaper (depending on where you buy the tire) but in my opinion a better tire.

I absolteuly agree with needing to lower it - just waiting for th TRD springs to come into the dealer, the TRD USA warehouse is appanrelty out so they are coming from Japan...

Whatever works.

And these wheels absolutely require caliper painting and eventually nicer rotors.

about those proxies 4's. In the long run they are actually screwing you. I had a set of those on my maxima, in almost 3000 miles you could tell they were noticably worn. The pirellis on the other hand have a tread wear rating of 430!! the proxies are aroun 250 i believe. I would go back and deman my pirellis if i were you

If I'm not mistaken the Pirelli's have a treadwear of 400 not 430 and the Toyos have one of 300 nmot 250.

Also, it is not generally considered worthwhile to compare treadwear ratings across brands. Taht is because of how the treadwear rating test is done (at different times for different brands)

Besides, the Toyos are (IMHO) a better tire, and I don't mind paying for something better.

also as an FYI... if you order and get the optional wheels and tires.. right from the get-go..
they are $1000........... now if you got the car from the dealer and wanted to add the 18" then it would cost the $1500....... atleast that is the way my dealer has worked it.. on my order form.. the wheels are priced at $999....... and for that im assuming im not getting the originals aswell....

I bought the Toyo Proxies FZ4 tires to replace my stock tires. I love them they are starting to show some tread wear but I drive my car pretty hard all the time. They definately have much better traction in the snow and rain then the bridgestones.

ANd like I said above.. the wheel neccessitates lowering springs.

My TRD springs can't get to the dealer fast enough.... hopefully next week.

Congrats on getting Toyo's! I have them on my tC as well and like you, they are some of the best tires I've ever ran, the T-1's being my fave.

I've never had any issues with Toyo's being worn after 3000 miles. Mine have that on them and they still look brand new. I rotate and check the air regularly as well. But the lower the treadwear, the less life you are going to get out of the tire, generally. However, the Toyo's are going to be a stickier tire and grip the pavement better than something with a higher treadwear.
