Default Great inexpensive mod! Redline Tuning tC hoodlift kit!

Just got this installed this weekend! This is the new Redline Tuning hood lift kit for the tC. This lift eliminates the need for the original hood prop rod. Install was easy and it's a great inexpensive mod! Check it out, only $59.95 and now available at :

The holes do need to be drilled but all the measurements you need will be in the manual.

As for CF hoods you would have to talk to the guys from Redline Tuning. They do have many weights in these lifts and I'm positive they have one with less pre-load for lighter hoods.

With the limited amount of space between the top and bottom of the hood a screw might have been too long. If you want to use screws (incase you want to change your hood down the road) you might want to just ask Andreas at Redline to see if he has any reasoning as to why they chose the rivets vs screws.

I'd also like to know why rivets and not screws or nuts and bolts. Also, would the car-side brackets interfere with a strut tower brace?

I'm not sure about interferance with a strut brace because I don't have one. The install manual should be available soon on the website and you can look it over to see if it would interfere. I will try and get you some detailed pics this afternoon with measurements so you will know.

I would guess rivits on the top because I can't think of anyone that would want bolts/nuts showing on the outside of their hood...

Well, obviously the back of the rivets aren't on the outside of the hood. If what you're trying to say is that there's no way to get to the back of the sheet metal the rivets are attached to (a "blind hole") then I understand. I didn't go look at my car for reference.

That's exactly what it is, a blind hole, there is only access from one side of the sheet metal. I wasn't making fun of you JasonH, that image popped into my head when Toastbox posted that reply and I had to throw it out there for a laugh.

Nice mod, looks great.

Wondering how well it holds the hood up & if it assists in raising the hood as well

Definitely would like to know how this would handle a carbon fiber hood, I'd like to go CF one day but I also want these.
