60 bucks for somthing I rarely use doesn't seem like a deal. Maybe if it was around 30 bucks I would but 60 is ridiculous(spelling?).

I guess you need a rivet gun for the install, even though the web page doesn't say it... am I the only person who does't have one of those?

I like this kit but a few concers IE vs. the TEIN kit , and i think they will make one for the tc.

1) It only comes with one prop, tein comes with two, how come??
2) Why couldnt you utulize factory holes and screw locations like the tein kits??
3) I dont have a rivet gun, and riveting into my hood, risque?
4) FAQ says you ahve to protect the drill holes from rusting with some touch up paint?

All and all $60 and its a hard install. I like the concept ALOT but needs to be perfected for my tastes. Its almost totally custom do it yourself, ie you can jsut get a gas shock and do it.

I may even consider an actautor for the hood now, so that I can do semo bling bling with that??? hehe

1) The Tein kit comes with two, but cost three times as much? As far as I can tell, Tein offers no warranty. Anyway, one is enough.
2) There is no Tein kit for the tC yet, only the xB, so we don't yet know how their kit might install. It may require drilling, welding, and super-glue.
3) That's a $10.oo item at any hardware or autoparts store.
4) A little dab will do ya.
5) It's not hard, it just requires some skill.
6) If you were to design and install your own struts you would need to find struts of the proper length (closed and open), and with the proper weight supporting factor. Now that's hard.
7) The Reline Tuning strut is prettier. ;)

JUST AN FYI... for those who bought this kit... i just got mine.. depending if you want the redline graphic facing in or out.. you may need to swap the ball ends on the strut.. i was look ing at mine and noticed if i follow the instructions the redline stencil would face inward... by just uncrewing the ends and swapping them around.. the redline stencil then faces out.. at least on mine..

wouldn't interfere with a strut tower brace - as you can see the bracket is put on the side away from the bar

Nice klean look...

...and anyone know why it was installed on the driver side instead of the passenger, since thats were the original hood post is?

Maybe someone who has this already can answer - I'm worried that this would torque the hood too much. I know that my hood isn't open very often, which might mean that I shouldn't get this in the first place, but also, by pushing it open and holding it open on only one side, what are the chances of bending things? Does it feel like it's going up easily or does it feel like the passenger's side needs a little more support?

SOmeone did their homework to get the right combination. About 3/4 of the way closing, all pressure is off and it can be dropped to latch, Raising it, there is 2 stages of speed. Unlatching it and raising, 1/4" way up, it pulls. If you let go, it goes fast, then with a few inchest left, it slows, then stops very smooth. It just seems weird only having it on one side.

Plus, by instinct, I fear twisting the hood, but it seems ok. 6 Months from now, I'm not so sure. I may talk to them about getting another one. That would suck twisting the hinges.
