Default Had My Court Date Today, Remember I got hit with 70 in a 50?

Alright I cant find the thread but its been a month and some change and today finally i went to court. To bring you up on what happened, the road turned into 2 lanes, i went to pass the slower car in front of me and that car started speeding up so i sped up to pass and a cop comes flying around the corner and catches me. It was 70 in a 50.

Went to court today, spoke with the cop and he told me that if I was to go with the original charge it would be 6 points off my license and a real heavy fine. He knocked it down to some dumb traffic violation with 2 points off and the bill came out to $155. Not bad but I have a CDL and really cant afford the points off but that was hella better than what I would of got. I talked to him and explained myself but he told me thats the lowest he can bring it to because 5 other people got hit with the same thing.

So all i can say now is dont speed even when you need to lol.

thats cool that he dropped the charge down. Cops always seem nicer when you talk to them after the incident.

I got a 93 in a 55 and I plead not guilty to just hope the cop didnt show up. Well I got my court day and didnt realize I was going to be in Hawaii till the day of my court hearing. So I had to hire a low cost traffic attorney called Mr. Ticket for $99 and he ended up getting it dismissed on something small the cop forgot to bring in. That phone call made today a good day, especially cause the ticket was supposed to almost $400

i got tagged doign 85 on a 50 on my bike on the GCP in NY. i didnt know that you can "talk " it down with the cop? i'll give that a try when i go to court in July.
might not work tho b/c i got a ticket doing 130 in a 50 about 5 years ago ( no traffic at night on my bike also). how did you approach the cop about this? was he a highway patrol or just a regular cop?

Most of the time any cop you talk to, if you explain the incident, they'll try and work with you. Unless they're total douchebags, or if you are completely in the wrong. Thats my experience with them at least...

this was some ____ town so i dont know how it works with the other courts. this town had sherrifs and i never dealt with them before but the one i had was young and he was cool. while youre sittin there waiting for everything to start the cop shows up and then he called my name and brought me outside, he let me explain what happened and then he told me that he will drop it down to so and so. its really already made up for what they bring it down to before you get there i think because they sent a disposition letter in the mail after the ticket for what you did.

i just got a ticket in my tc about a month ago and im fighting it. cop wasnt concise on what was written on the ticket.

i talked my way into him giving me a warning for speeding and a ticket for not having my insurance card with me.
the ticket was dismissed the next day.

it was a group of us and i was on my way home . i knew that if i didnt slow down and wait for the cop all my other friends would have gotten tagged and there were 8 others. there were 3 with just permits and it would have been bad for them. im not trying to sound like a hero for stopping but it would have been F'ed up to have then pay for what i did. highway patrol is always harder than local cops.i have seen then just pull over ppl just to mess with them.

I got caught doing 95 in a 65 i was flowing with traffic but im young so cop pulled me over. I talked to the cop the day of my court date and he knocked the 95 down to a 79 and dropped the wreckless driving charge. the 8 point charge turned into a 2 point charge and 30 day suspended license so im very lucky and thankfull. Cops are very nice people when there not on duty.

Well man thats good you didnt get into to much trouble but im glad you realized ya need to slow down. I dont ever go more than 10 mph over the speed limit because every ticket i got was going 15 or more over so i play it safe. Plus i still have people passing me at that speed so i will definitely be chatten with the cop if i get pulled over for doing nothing wrong.
