yeah you're right the originals do suck.. its a wonder they even considered them.. but hey it all comes down to saving money somewhere.. they probably figured we'd replace them right away so they saved money on them.. they did promote the whole "customize your tC" approach..

I enjoy my wheels. We have been blasted with snow fall and freezing rain, but just as any other car I've owned if you drive carefully there's no problem. The light wieght of the car is what I'm affected by mostly when driving, but I would rather not have any more weight than I need.

the Re92's are decent for stock tires, they do jsut fine in the snow (i drove today in it). i'd suggest you either a: check the tread on the tire and make sure it's not low, and b: change your driving style in the snow. on a dry day i drive my car like i stole it, in the snow i drive normaly and i haven't had a problem with it yet. oh and just one last thing. if the tires weren't decent in the snow subaru wouldn't put them on the wrx's as stock tires.

you were really walking the tightrope there. It almost sounded like you had a problem with your tc (and we all know how sensitive some tc owners are).

Yeah, I'll bet a set of snow tires would solve that problem.

yeah good idea of keeping the tC off the roads when it's crazy like that.. even with all that snow, snow tires would be pointless.. car only has 6 inches of ground clearance.. i doubt you'd want to use your front air dam opening as a snow plow!

I don't have any problem in the snow. just drive easy. My driveway had a decent grade and is completly packed snow. the tC goes up that way better than many of my previous cars. I give the tC a thumbs up for snow driving.

I live in michigan right next to the lake and they are decent, if not good tires for the normal person. For their price, they suck though. But if you think these are horrible tires for the snow, either you need to drive in the snow better, or the conditions are out of the tC's range (unpaved roads, off-road, ice ice ice)

If anyone knows about the storm in LA a few days ago, I was stuck in Big Bear in the middle of the storm, and managed to get to the cabin and escape the storm no problem with chains on. My friends ended up getting stuck in the middle of the road.

.....Call me a noob, but i fried my clutch going up a hill though....

There's a reason why they sell snow tires...

for stock tires on a 16k car, they're incredible. snow/ice/rain/etc, they've been great and have stuck to the road infinitely better than my old Scorpion ATs in my jeep (in 2wd). might've had something to do with rear wheel drive and 225ft/lbs of torque, though...

their price is high for aftermarket b/c they want to get the $$ of people walking in and buying 1 or 2 tires to replace b/c they weren't careful enough about rotating.

Since last week, we have had freezing rain several times here, and I stayed off the road as much as possible, and kept my car in the garage..But after a couple of brief trips on icy roads with the TC, I managed to say in control pretty well, but I was staying in 2nd gear mostly, and keeping a distance from other vehicles. Then it snowed about 9 inches last week, and compared to ice traction, the snow driving was much easier. The ABS helps too, as long as you remember that you will still slide for a while before you stop, but it is far better than having the wheels lock up...I guess I might get snow tires at some point, but my TC seems to be good enough in the snow, better than some cars I've owned, and at least as good as all the others I had..

we had almost 10 inches of snow here in chicago, and they dont plow city side streets until last. So i drove through this snow with no problems. Actually quite impressed, not a lot of struggle getting in out parallell parking with snow literally up to the bottom of the body of the car.

i know you young drivers need a little bit more experience in the snow and sleet, so maybe any car would not handle well if you do not know how to drive well in these conditions.

be safe out there and go slow =)
