Has anyone done this to their TC or any car in history?
As far as I know they don't have a chrome colored caliper paint. Dipping them in chrome sounds very unlikely and would only make them heavier. Just get chromed rims and you'll be happy, too much chrome looks tacky. I've seen our stock rims chromed and that seemed too much.
yea dude...i had them on my 86 vw gti...it was bmw anthracite grey...really dark and metallic...i painted the calipers chrome like that and it looked hott....looked like they were brand new...i had to get the red and orange paint off of them first tho because this car was ghetto before i got it...do it...esp if you have silver or chrome wheels...it might look weird with the gunmetal stock wheels tho...but definitely dont throw the idea out...chrome calipers are cool as hell
Wilwood has it avaiable, don't know if the application will fit a tC.

Seems common on motorcycles as well...

Actually,
The 1918 U12 was the first car in history to have chrome painted brake calipers.

Unfortunately before there were photographs it was really difficult to show chrome.
Chrome exhaust tips followed shortly after with the 1919 37-B.

"There was nothing like riding up and having them notice the chrome exaust tip" "thy carrage must do an extra 40 furlongs per hour was proclaimed quite often" says Montgomery McMillian, 97.
uhh, I think I need to go home now... ;)
