i dont know what its called, but its the thing where you can plug in your phone charger. it stopped working today and i dont know why. :?

Cigarette plug I'd try checking for a blown fuse that goes for it.

^^ Definitely. That is step number #1 b/c that's the most likely cause.

These particular types of fuses are generally inexpensive & easy to come by. I always keep a variety of spares in my shop, as most vehicles generally use the same types of fuses for the common devices in passenger cars & light trucks.
Also, b/c we ALL know what "assume" spells, just clarifying real quick here... the cigarette adapter you are using in the vehicle & in this specific location, you've used in this car before correct? And it's of decent quality (as in, not a K-Mart blue light special).

you blew a fuse. probably because of the phone charger.
