Default Help a DIY guy out.

I just moved into a condo down here in florida. The condo has rules. Like no working on your car in the parking lot. I'm a DIY guy but now what am I supposed to do? I just moved down here and everyone I've met so far lives in a condo so theres no buddy's house I can goto and work on it there. The people here are ****'s too I had my hood up just to check some stuff and the neighbor is like "I hope you know theres no working on your car here people will report you." So right now I'm kinda ____ outta luck unless you guys know something that I don't. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's Naples man, what'd ya expect? I know theres some tuner clubs down there though, last time I went down to my dads place I hung out with a bunch of Honda guys in a parking lot. Maybe search around for a local forum for that area.

They just don't want you to spill oil on their precious asphalt parking lot... As long as your DIY is clean and dry, there's no need for them to panic.

^^ But the guy said there's a rule and no working, in most cases its oil spill but some condos or apt complex are just strict like that its most likely a safety, disturbance or environmental (pollution) issue... I live in an apt too (i havent checked the rules, definitely no change oil) and it just annoys me everytime I work on my car people looks at me as if theyr asking "what the hell is wrong with his car, again?" lol.

go up to the condo office and talk to them. i'm sure you can work something out. agree that you won't do oil changes there and it's just you changing headlights and such. i mean you have to work on your car every now and then. it's inevitable. i would just talk to them about it and see what they say. it's worth a shot and it cant hurt

Move :D

Our apt is not so bad about it as long as you dont make a mess, but they still dont care for it. We just bought a house and will be moving in a couple of months, so I will have my own garage again:D

I can do oil changes without making a mess, so I even do them at my apt now. I just do them early in the morning so most people dont notice!

I did work on my car anyway once but I had 2 diff people say something to me I changed my header and spipe. But I told them this would be my last time doing anything so if you could please dont say anything and they said ok. But they are old farts who have nothing better to do than complain. Now I got my s-tech's waiting to go on the car and I dont wanna pay 200 dollars but if someone does decide to report me then I can get a fine or kicked out of my complex. And there is no apartment office here its a comity of people who live here.

Also yes they have garages here. But my mother rents it out. Its her condo. So I really have no choices. I gotta go find someone to use their driveway.

My condo is the same way.........last time I popped the hood I got a notice on my door telling me there is no working and can be fined........

Talk to the complex condo people........there has to be a group in charge in a condo.........tell them you are not working on your car........working defines something needs removed and replaced that is broken.......you are just getting it ready for a car show........if that means removeing header and polishing it then so be it.......

And if all else fails park it at the entrance of the condos on the street and work on it there.........condos suck.........

I agree with AKAvensis.............They should be glad you don't have a primered black 1970 GTO with a built big block and glass packs to fire up every morning at 5am.........man they made me park like 300 feet away from the buildings.........

I do understand why they have the rules however.

Most people that live in these things are old people that have seen their old neighborhood go down the crapper due to trashy familys moving in and renting.

My neighborhood was perfect, then one house started renting their other half to a trash family who had ratty kids on loud ___ gopeds going all over the place. then their neighbors moved out and a trashy family moved in next to them. then it repeats and soon your nice little neighborhood is a trashy ghetto. ...and your tC gets stripped.
