I have an 08 tc and an 05. The 05 has been sitting for about 9 months now apart waiting for me to pull the motor and drop a stock one in. Anyway I ended up losing all three 3 keys (dont know how).

I need to know how to break in the 05 so i can see if the keys are in there (dont have money for locksmith right now)

I also would like to know what it would cost to buy a new key from the dealer. Thanks!

 

You can probably open it with a slim jim. I know the police department will normally do it free of charge, but thats only if you lock your keys inside of your car in a public place or maybe on the street. Call the police station and see if they will do it. its worth a shot.

 

So it can be opened by a slimjim? Ok, my brother inlaw was gonna get one from work but I though someone told me you can't open these cars with one.

 

I honestly dont know about the slim jim, I just said it because that was really the only other possible way besides a lock smith. Maybe if you give the dealer the VIN they can get you a new key to open it. But that will cost you $$$.

 

geez that sucks. GL i dotn think a slim jim will work. Most cops dont do that anymore anyways cause of liability reasons. Call your insurance maybe they can do it for free.

AAA wont do anything dealing with keys..at least in TN/NC they wont... i guess liability

 

boy they unlocked my car when i locked my keys in my car once i made a spare key that i keep on me at all times since then best 5 dollars spent

man..this summer we me and my gf took my family's suv upto the mountains only to find out that it had a locking gas cap that i had forgot to get the key too..so we were running out of gas with no way to refill...called AAA and they denied us saying taht they will help with anything but locksmithing....must have different policies for different chapters..

and i've heard slimjims will not work with cars with power windows/locks or you may end up doing more damage then good...

hey duck dodgers, u made a spare for the tc?.. i tried to make a flat "wallet" key, and the cut was the exact same as the original but it would not unlock my doors, i assumed b/c it didnt have the rfid tag or w/e they have in them now....


howd you get it to work?..i used to have a wallet key for my old car and i loved it...i have to keep the valet key stashed on my car now and thats not too smart..

 

if you make a spare it should work for unlocking the doors but it wont start the car

 

i called the dealership the other day to replace a keyless etry key and they qouted me one for 110 bucks

 

my ex gf got locked out of her xa one day, but her co-worker managed to get it open with a slim jim and it has power window/power locks if that helps.

 

i just got a normal spare key that i keep in my wallet with a small piece of card board the size of a cc... works great even starts my car and yes i do forget that i have it in there nearly 90% of the time heh

 

I went down to the dealer today and they cut me a new key for free! It's not the remote but got me in the car and should hold me over till I get the stock motor back in it (don't ask). Thought it was cool for them to cut one for free and I gots to give them props.

So far from what I looked there was no keys but there's a LOT of parts in there so there could be one somewhere. I will let everyone know when and if I do find them.
