Default Help Me Decide! (auto show)

For the past few years, a good friend and I have gone to the NY Auto Show on the "public preview" Friday. This year, he's getting married the first of May - so due to budgetary concerns, he's out for this year. If he didn't go, normally the g/f would probably go with me, but she has some work things this year that won't let her get away.

So... do I just make the trip by myself? It's just a touch over 4 hours for me. Normally we'd get there early Friday morning, leave the cars at the hotel and subway it into the city. Then stay Fri night in the hotel (both to be able to go out drinking afterwards, and to spare having to drive down and back in a day).

If I really wanted, I could do the drive down and back in a day... it wouldn't kill me. And I think I could find a parking place in Jersey City and stick with the subway plan. It would just mean that I'd be driving like 9 or 10 hours that day. But it would save me like $150 on a hotel for the night.

A lot of the reason I'm considering going is to see the new tC. Rumor is that it will debut at this year's NY Auto Show... and I'd love to get an early glimpse. That... and I'm really hoping the FT-86 is there in all of its awesomeness.

So I don't know... what do you guys think? Would you still go by yourself? Would you go for the day only? Or grab a hotel and rest up overnight before the drive back?

I would go by myself and go for the day. I'm pretty much nocturnal so lack of sleep isn't really a big deal for me. However, everyone's different. But it is nice to drive long distances by yourself sometimes!

You could bring him with and pay for everything as an early wedding present.

Thought about that, but we're taking him out to Atlantic City for his bachelor party probably the week after the auto show.

And Chris, I'm not sure yet. I may get back to you on that. Like I said, for me, it's usually a Friday thing, but Saturday wouldn't make it much different in this case.

i would always prefer someone else just to keep each other company and it makes the trip that much more exciting but on the other hand if your really desprite to go any you have no one else thats available that i guess you would have to make a trip buy yourself

Ya, that's really just wishful thinking.

The more I see the teaser, the more I might take you up on this. If even for a day trip. The show doesn't even open until 11 or so anyway. Four hour drive, see the show for a few hours and grab lunch... drive home. Would probably park in Jersey City and take the PATH in (unless someone has a better suggestion).
