Default Here's an idea: LED Taillights!

Seems like there is a company called Eurostar that's starting to make LED taillights for certain car models. Anyone else seen other companies that do this??
They are around $250 a pair, but very few models are available....maybe someone can do some custom work and make some (think Infiniti G35 Coupe!)

I believe that there migt be a factory kit, one of the accessories, that can be purchased soon for the tC. On my Scion dealers website it shows this:

Rear Tail Light Enhancements (tC)

The price is shown as TBD still, but there's only a couple things I can think of that would be described like that, and I think Alteeza's are out of style now, aren't they?

TYC will be making the LED taillights. I guess they're a big name in that field. I have no idea what they will look like, but I like those posted above (and the G35's taillights, for that matter.)

As long as they are not ricey Altezza, I'd get it. I can't stand the fact that people are calling those lights "Euro Lights", because they are clearly Japanese and NO european car has them!

I can't stand the fact that such negativity is now attached to the name Altezza thanks to ricers. Such a nice car

Default Eurolights will eventually be riced

Although led lights maybe something new and nice looking, i'm sure when it becomes the style- people will hate it. I'm sure most of us liked the "altezza" lights when it first became stylish, but too many people make it look ugly and now most of us hate it.

but the difference is that LED lights are found in many high-end luxury cars, from Infiniti's to Audis and BMWs. Heck, even the $400,000 Porsche Carrera GT have them. They are just more discreet than plastic-chrome "euro" lights

I do like the LED tail lights.

Has anyone tried the LED replacement bulbs?

My friends Older brother has a G35 Coupe... The one thing I mostly love about that car is the taillights... so if they made a conversion for the tC i would buy it in a heartbeat.

How hard is it to change/fabricate LED bulbs/bulb housings??

The LED replacment bulbs don't work all that well because the taillight lens and housing is made to work with a single white light source. The LED "bulbs" have several red light souces that aren't at the focus of the reflector/lens which spoils the light pattern.

A better approach is to use the lenses in the LEDs themselves by installing them into holes drilled in the taillight lens. The holes have to point directly aft, so this approach is best done with vertical format taillights like those on the xB. It is also rather labor intensive!

The LEDs really don't need housings, as they have their own built-in lens. They are also very reliable and come on instantly, something that might turn an accident into a near-miss if it reduces the reaction time of a trailing driver. LEDs are a coming thing, as they will ultimately reduce the size and cost of taillights and associated housings.

im not sure how these tail lights work but i would hope that they were on a "bread board" so that the led's can be replaced easily.

anyone have access to a G35 and a digital camera that could possibly photograph the lights outside of the housings?
