Default How bad is WHEEL HOP???????????

ok who knows anything about wheel hoppage ????

now that i've installed my headers and exhaust the car pulls a lot harder...and the wheel hop is getting worse..i am afraid to really get on it b/c i know wheel hop affects not only the axle but the whole drive shaft right???

i know Weapon R has somthing available... a damper kit..but no one offers motor mounts yet...though i know motor mounts will cause serious vibration at idle..i am willing to deal with it if i can keep from ripping the legs off my car????

i'm sure many of you have the same concern....is it that big of an issue i do not want to have even think about serious damage that can occur if the whole drivetrain is put under this type abuse over a couple years...

oh and this isn't only a FWD right????? b/c on my last car (91 240sx) i had some wheel hop too..but the car was falling apart after 200k miles....

my tC when stock had bad wheel hop. now that i lowered it, it feels like it doesnt slip as much anymore and the tires have more traction. i cant imagine how it is for you now. maybe you should look into getting a phantom lsd for your tranny to keep all that power under control. also, the tC is a FWD and only a FWD.

wheel hop can happen to both FWD and RWD. Motor mounts play a big role in controling this. Old cars have worn out mounts and will wheep hop

fwd do not have a drive shaft, the wheels are powered by the CV axles.

the weapon r damper will offer the same effect as stiffer urethane mounts.

wheel hop is a bad thing. wheel hop causes the motor to rock back and forth in the engine bay in a violent manner. this violent rocking could rip or tear the mounts if it is done a lot.

RWD does have some wheel hop as well, but it doesn't seem to be as severe as FWD's.

i think you should invest in the engine damper, theres a thread on here for a group buy at a discount price.

wheel hop is scary...i wonder how terrible it is to your cv joints

Just get that Engine Damper kit and wheel hop should stop. I need one pretty bad as well. Wheel Hop doesn't really cause any damage because my friends SRT-4 that is modded does it 10x worse than any TC ever would.

upgrade tires - stock tc all weathers arent that great - treat your car the way it wants to be treated and learn how to launch correctly

f1nch, are you interested in group buy for the dampers?

Don't drive like an ___ and wheel hop won't be a problem. Stop trying to lay wheel off the line in a FWD.

it doesn't only happen in 1st gear, when you slam into 2nd gear hard you get a pretty good ammount of hop also.

it doesn't have to be FWD to have wheel hop, just look at the BMW M5's (they're RWD and have pretty bad wheel hop)

i really want the WR damper but I'd rather throw in a little more money and get a header.
