Default How does the Key look like?

I ordered my car about 1 week and a half ago... and I will be getting it in few days...

I was wondering what Alarm System actually does.

For those of you who had gotten it already as an option... what does it do?

I have an 03 Honda Accord v6 and the alarm and key is together.

and from the scion site... i saw a key stuck together with the alarm and one without... does it mean that if i dont get the alarm system option... I dont get the key that I want?

it's called scion security. basically what the car comes with already plus a glass break sensor and locking doors when you start the car.

here's a picture of the key. whether you get the "alarm" or not, it's the same key.

Default Alarm System Question

would the alarm go off when someone hits the car or breaks the window even though you dont have alarm system?

Or is there even any kind of alarm on tc without it? and if there is, what kind of features?

The standard tC features includes keyless entry, starter kill, and a panic button on the remote. If you don't pay extra for "Scion Security" the only way you'll hear an alarm is to hold the panic button. It does have a red blinking light on the console that flashes whenever the key is not in the ignition to tell you that starter kill is active (standard).

"Starter kill" cuts off power going to the starter, making it harder to hotwire. There is a computer chip embedded in the factory keys that tells the car it's ok to start the car when the key is inserted in the ignition. This also means that you cannot start the car with a copy key made at a hardware store.

Without the added alarm package, nothing. With only the standard options you could have all your windows smashed, radio / rims / doors stolen, and the car wouldn't make a peep. The only deterrent is a blinking red led, and a harder to hotwire engine.

I had the Scion Security System installed. There is a tread somewhere here that discusses what additional features the optional security system provides. This would include active and passive arming, glass break sensor, blinking LED alarm armed light (fills one of the switch blanks to the left of the steering wheel) and additional insurnace to pay your deductable if your car is stolen

Do you have a tC?

I just went out to mine to test your statement. I rolled down the driver's window. Then closed the door and locked the car from the outside using the button on the remote. I then reached through the open window and unlocked the door. Nothing happened. Then I opened the door. Still nothing. Are you speaking from personal experience? And if so, does that mean there's something wrong with my car? Or are you just talking out of your ___? You seem to have no car in the registry.

Default alarm beeping indication of lock/unlock

Is there a way that I can get the car to beep as an indication of the car being unlocked an locked when I am unlocking or locking from the remote? I know that something might have to be installed to make this noise, but anyone fellin' me -- doesn't it just annoy you that you have to look back at the car when locking you car with the remote to insure that you car is locked??

My boyfriend has a Nissan Maxima and his remote has the option to "beep" or be silent, he just holds on the lock button and it beeps and to release he holds it again then it becomes silent (with just the lights as an indication). Does anyone know if this could be available for the tC?
