Default How Does Trading In A Vehicle Work? Or Selling On The Street

Alright I got my 07 scion tc auto, turbo with almost 25,000 miles on it. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do this. Either sell it on the street with the turbo kit in or take the turbo kit off and sell that seperatly and then bring it to the dealer for a trade in. Lets say I was to trade it in. So I get 2k for my turbo kit on the side from selling it, now im at the dealership wanting to trade it in for an evo. I have about $14,000 left on the car for paying it off. Now how does this work thats what I dont understand. And then that leads me to the final question if its better to trade it in and sell the turbo seperatly or sell the car as is on the street. Thanks for the advice. And I'm looking at the evo X.

Try selling it on the street first with and without the turbo. You're obviously going to ask more if the seller still wants the turbo. If someone on the street wants to buy your car they have to take over your payments. Let's say you do a KBB and your car gets 17k the way it is. You could sell the car for 3k (since you owe about 14k) and let the new owner take the payments. That's probably your best option.

Up to you if you wanna sell the turbo kit by itself and trade the car in which the dealer isn't gonna give you as much as you'll make on the street. I really hate how dealers appraise cars, not even worth it man, honestly.

Pretty sure you don't have the title since you still owe 14k correct? If not, then both your bank and his bank will take care of the title.

From my experiences, you'll get more money on the street but its a hassle. Trading it in you won't get as much (usually) but it is a lot easier than selling it on streets. Or post it on here in the classifieds.
