Default How much did you pay for your TC?

Here's my story. I got my car jacked and was stranded with no money to buy another car so I went to a Scion dealer and tried to bargain with them with zero down.

This is what I got after 3 times:

-2007 Super white ( base)
-5 speed
-I Pod stereo upgrade
-Wheel/Tire protection
-GAP insurance
-Theft recovery

With zero down, I financed the car for 66 months, with a payment of 358 per month.
I got an interest rate of 7.4%. I know I got screwed but that is all I could do after shopping around. I just want to see if anybody out there got screwed harder so I could feel better. lol

lol, misery loves company. if your getting screwed on the interest, just over pay as often as you can to reduce the interest your charged.

Scion, from what i saw and experience has pure pricing... The car comes 1 way, sure you can change options at the dealership, which gets added to the car. Financing thru Toyota Financial is based of u'r credit rating, your credit rating puts you into a bracket for u'r APR interest rate, there is no changing that from what i understood.

your $358 x 66 payments = $23,628 for a car that should be roughly $17,800 if i remember correctly out the door.

For me, I traded in a SRT-4 ($10,500 Trade-in), i owed roughtly $500 on the SRT, So with a $10,000 trade-in, i put down another $3,000 in cash, The tC was $17,800 out the door. My monthly payments are $141 a month, I've made 2 3 payments plus a $2,000 payment, I hope to be done with in with in 2 months.

yeah, i don't think i will ever own a dodge, or a chrysler because i seriously don't like the names. i mean, dodge is like the ultimate red-neck sounding name. you see the commercials "duhhhhhhhh, tha' thing gotta hemi? sweeeeeet!"

owning one would make you the envy of the every toothless american.

haha... dodge period... only thing I see in an SRT4 is go fast for cheap depending on how LONG it will hold up... plus the interior on those things are hideous!

none, they are all too damn scared to face me! besides, it isn't an equal field, turbocharged engine versus a n/a engine nearly the same size? how about how many dodge neon r/t's could i stomp? answer, all of them. when i go turbo, then the srt-4's will be on my $h!t list.

like i say, it isn't the capabilities of the car itself, it is simply the name and image. somebody asks you what kind of car you drive, you say dodge neon srt-4, but by the the time you finish saying dodge neon, they don't care, they are like "dodge neon? those ugly lame little cars?" your average non-car enthusiast girl will not be impressed. you say acura rsx, or scion tc, it has a much more positive impression, well the scion is about 50/50 because usually the next thing she will say is "you drive one of those fugly boxes?"

(not mocking the xb, but tc owners are all too familiar with that response)

After 70,000 miles, a year and a 1/2 of autox, over 200+ passes at the 1/4 mile, driving the car the way it was meant to be driving took its toll on the car. I ran into a bad electrical problem that left me uncertain of the car. My original plan was to ride the car until it wouldn't go anymore... but i had a change of view when it came to cars. I spent over $12,000 in aftermarket parts on the SRT... everything from turbos, to coilovers, from brakes, Though it was my daily driver, it was also my hobby.

As for those that hate on the car... can't argue with ignorance, if u'r sole reason is "looks"... looks are subjective, and has no bearing on what a car can do. Now, those with tC that want to attempt to puff there chest and say "when i get a turbo, watch out"... a few key changes to a SRT and its a monster. Stage 1 PCM upgrade, WGA, 3" exhaust and a FMIC, and you could push around 270-290 whp with 310+ toq. I still run and hang out with my SRT club, so i am still very much in tune with what their "neons" are capable of.

Bottom line is that no matter what, the tC and the SRT-4 are not on the same platform. Can you get a tC to compete on that level, probably, but at what cost?

I bought the tC for reliability, and i liked the look. I miss my SRT every time i see a Evo or Wrx, and now they don't even look my way. I miss my SRT every time i merge on to the highway. As i said, because of many different factors it was time for a change. As of late, i will be eyeing what is going on with the Dodge Challenger and how/if there will be a SRT8 Challenger. Or if they come out with the Demon, and more importantly a SRT Demon... if so... bye bye tC

Enough hi-jack.. and no, i don't mean Jack Bauer

Don't you love it? I paid in full at time of purchase, and they STILL wanted to check my credit and try to get me into financing before they'd let me write the check. Thieving bastards. He even tried to make it sound like a good idea to pay $5k more for a car in interest over the original price. "Well, if you want to use your money for something else, we can finance you."
