Default How Much Should Valve Cover Powder Coating Cost?

Just want to get an idea - I know it will vary by location, but what did anyone who's had it done pay?

i was quoted from 65-75 depending on the color and if they had it. basic colors were 65 since they had most of them in stock but if i wanted somthing else or color matched then it was more

In Saint Louis, they coat for $40 per 4cylinder valve cover. They powder coated my turbo manifold and downpipe with 2000F Hi-Temp for only $100!

Thanks for the replies - just wanted to confirm; I got f'd, and they didn't even buy me dinner first, or use vaseline.
My mistake was taking it to a high end custom paint shop, per a friend's recommendation, who was having his car painted at the time. They said they could do it, no problem. Didn't tell me they had to send it out, and didn't give me a firm price. Said around $100.
Several MONTHS later, they finally got it back - not exactly the color I wanted, and charged me $170!!!!! They didn't know the slip was in the box from the actual powdercoat place, for $140. I found the slip when I got it home, so they tacked on the $30 just for sending it out, and making me wait for months. Made my day.

I paid $70 for the cover too, so I'm into this for almost $250. I already have a polished cover, so don't know if I'm even going to use this one. Tough to sell now too, without getting raped again. Should have just left it there, and only been out the $70.
I'm ____ed, just had to vent.

paid 50 for my blue valve cover. I think anything over 100 is jus ridiculous. I regret paying 50 for mine cause I'm tired of the blue and want a Polished one now

im sorry steve, that sucks but then again the body shop you took it too isnt the most trustworthy shop around.... im not surprised they charged you that much either, especially knowing that they didnt even do anything.

WOW! ... what a punch in the face that was man. I would've told them to eat some of that mark-up since they didn't give you a firm final cost in the first place. Even if it would've been only an estimate they could've made it a "good faith" estimate so you had the opportunity to say yes or no BEFORE they did the work.
