How to take off garnish?
Yeah, start by taking off the hatch panel. In order to do that, you also need to remove the 3 plastic trim pieces around the top and sides of the hatch. When you are removing the panel, it just pulls off, but it takes some force. You just have to pull it down until it pops loose. It's held in place by 8 or 10 plastic pegs in different locations. Oh, and there are also a couple of screws which you need to remove, located by the inside handles. After it pops loose, it should swing down and should remain held in place by the fasteners at the corners, but it will still allow you to access the garnish. The TBL has 4 bolts and the garnish has 4 bolts, so make sure you are working with the correct ones. You don't need to remove the TBL. The garnish bolts are too long for a regular socket wrench, so you will need a deep socket or a pair of pliers to loosen the 4 nuts. After they are loose, twist them off and try not to drop them inside the hatch panels. You should then be able to push out the garnish by pushing from behind or pulling from the front. It will still be connected by a wire and it might also be a little bit stuck to the TBL adhesive. Once you have pulled it out, unscrew and disconnect the hatch pressure sensor to get the garnish free, and that's pretty much it.
