Howto: Install tc Fender.
Just installed the passenger side fender myself today. The process isn't smooth, but it's probably because of my inexperienced skills. Here's what you can learn from it if you want to do it yourself. I had used the veritcal door installation's as a guidance. Thanks jurassic1! Here is the link to that. http://www.verticaldoors.com/_produc...structions.pdf
1) There are 10mm bolts everywhere, so you will need a wrench for that for sure. Also you might want 1 or 2 flat screw drivers in case if you can't take of the clips easily.
2) You don't need to take off the front bumper, side sikirts or the doors (which I almost tried to do....) But you will need to "unhook half the bumper, yank out half the side skirt, and open the door for ease of access to the bolts.
3) Most of the bolts are on the outside, there are 2+1 bolts hidden behind the bumper area, 1 behind the sideskirt, 1 behind the rear view mirror tip, and 1 from the inside of the fender ( the last was the hardest one to take out)
4) Work with the clips before you force them out.... Don't be like me and try to yank out stuff too much... Some clips requires smartness to pull out, like the ones close to the windshield.
5) Then entire fender requires about 10-12 bolts, and a few clips
6) Take the hardests bolt out first!!!! The hardest one I think is the one on the inner side of the fender, you can see the screw when you open the door. But you gotta take it out from the otherside. A little tip on taking out this bolt: you should remove the front wheel, and then remove 9-12o'clock's clips on the mud guard thing. And then you can reach inside and use your favorite rachet to untie that.
7) When you are reinstalling the fender back on, you should considering putting on this hardest bolt on first.
Fenders are mostly bendible and sculptable, tie on the bolts first, but just a little loose so that you can adjust everything in place. I'm a little overkilling on adjusting the positions (That took me the most time actually)
9) If you don't plan on repainting the adjacent panels, be careful will you are yanking the sideskirts and takingout the panels, you can hurt the door...
10) This is a bit irrelevant, but be careful when you are screwing back up the wheel. You could actually do damage. I actually killed a screw and nuts when I try to screw them up too tight...
That's about all I can think of right now. one thing specific to the passenge side: you will have a stick that is attached to the fender that support the hood. huh? huh? yep... that thing. So, you might want to get a broomstick or something to support your hood, and put a bucket or something above the engine just in case it falls on to your head while you are working on the fender.
Oh yeah, one more thing, be prepare to pull out some nasty ____s from the inside of your sideskirts. =) Hope that can help to you guys.
P.S. I bought the fender from the dealer, unpainted $210 no tax.
