look at the back page in the radio's owners manual. the only "secret function" is you own text. you can program your own startup text w/ 16 characters. nothing fancy like the first gen radio. (not that i know of at least). i can scan or copy the text if you want me to (PM me so we don't clog up this thread), this is what i know from memory:
for base '08 radio only
  1. it tells you to turn the radio on and turn the key to "OFF"
  2. then hold down the mute button and turn the key to "ACC"
  3. there will be a blinking line under the text to confirm that you are going into "secret mode"
  4. hold down the 1 preset button and turn the key back to "OFF"
  5. press the 3 and 4 preset buttons to change the letter/number/symbol, 6 to confirm the letter and move to the next space, 5 to go back and edit the last entered number. (Note: you will only have 60 seconds to edit. when time runs out, repeat steps 2-5)
edit: i'll make a thread in the ice section next week when i have the time.

Howdy everyone. I just picked up my 08 Nautical Blue Metallic from the dealership yesterday. I've driven a beat up, broken down American car since I turned 16, so a feature rich Japanese car is a total breath of fresh air. Thanks to everyone on the forums here for helping me make the choice and keeping potential owners aware of the ins and outs of the car.

Grats on your new tC! I just switched up from an old 97 Acura 3.0 CL (i guess it's not as dramatic of a change as you had, but it's quite the change nonetheless), and it's definitely a good feeling! I've learned so much reading around here, I'm sure you will too!

Whats up everybody, I just picked up a 2008 silver tc over the weekend and I'm loving the car so far. Its a nice upgrade from my 2001 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8t (timing belt broke on it last week). I plan on getting the jetta fixed within the next week or so and giving to my lil brother since he doesn't have a car.

Got my '08 tC last Monday(8/6/07.) Very nice, having a blast. Got the manual, Flint Mica, no mods. Not sure what I will add, not much of a mechanic, but will check out my options. Anyone else in the Denver, CO area who knows of Scion meets or rides I might partake in?

I guess I need to make myself offical. I bought my tC this past June, this is my -first- new car and I was pretty sike dto roll it off the lot and put the first hundred miles on it.

Flint Mica, AT.

I traded in my modded 2000 Nissan Altima for it and I'm glad I did it. I love this car, especially when I'm at the gas tank!

Of course, it didn't take long before the bug bit me to get mack into the customization game so of course I'm stuck with the unviersal debate between S-Tech or H-Tech springs. This place has alot of information to help me make a educated decision to where I should dump my money.

Hope to be able to contribute to place somewhere soon.

Hey guys, I have a few questions, I didn't know where to post it so I'll just post them here. I'm new to the whole car tech thing but the idea of hooking a car up interests me alot.

I'm getting a tC in January of '08 (My first car!) as a "surprise" present from my mom (but my bro told me lol). Now that I know about the car I've been searching the TRD and Scion sites for parts that would increase the performance and smoothness of the ride (supercharger, lower springs) and things that would make the car "cooler" but I can only afford to a total of $4-5,000, but cheaper is always nice ( i still want quality tho).

I'm buying the Automatic Transmission. I don't really race but I would atleast want my car to be able to do street racing.

Basically I just want a list of things I can put to the car without surpassing my spending limit. I read about the Supercharger and Turbocharger, but I still don't know which is better (Supercharger looks better to me but I could be wrong).

Oh, I don't need anything that has to do with audio, my uncle got me covered on that.

Does anyone have an '08 tC in SSM? I'm curious as to how the newer '08 tails look with the color.

Thanks! :D

plenty to learn on this site my friend. Best place to get TRD or optional dealer parts for ALOT cheaper than the dealer is here....
http://trdsparks.com/displaycategory...it=Continue...

street racing is a bad idea and i hope you know that. Do you not hear about the stories SOME survivors have about street racing. You want to race, take it to the track. Dont be stupid! You have $4-5k to spend on the tC? IMO I would go for...

TEIN SS-P Coilovers
Hotchkis front and rear sway bars
18" wheels and some nice tires
PM Magnaflow Exhaust

and still have some money left over to save for another upcomming mod. Turbo is better/faster, the TRD Supercharger will keep you under warranty where the Turbo wont once things go wrong with the engine, and BTW Turbo is/looks better hands down. Tell your uncle about ElementalDesigns.com.

got mine about a month ago, and loving it. silver 07 auto with a spoiler. already replaced the headunit and put in a 10" woofer/amp. it's my first car with an A/C and in texas during the summer, that's super critical.
