Default I crashed my 07 flint mica TC...

...and i still can't get over it. I am really, really, really upset about it. Not because I don't have a car thats safe to drive me to and from work everyday, but because I was totally in love with my TC.

My question is: what do you think the repair costs would be for a front fender/hood smashed scion TC? Here are the details:

Hood is folded
Left headlamp smashed
Grill is smashed in
Bumper is considerably dented and ripped (can see underlying styrofoam)
Body was pushed into the battery and ruptured it, now leaking battery acid

no visible damage to engine

I could provide a picture later if that will help... I just want to know that if I repair it, would the driveability and ride still be the same or should I try to get it registered as totalled and try to see if my insurance company will get me a new one...

Thanks for the replies in advanced, much appreciated

-a now widowed TC driver

I rear ended a honda accord during rush hour traffic. I fell asleep at the wheel...

piece of advice to all - don't drive on the freeway when you're tired or sleepy! you might lose your TC like me...or even worse...

But back to my questions: Do you think it would be better if i can vye for the car to be considered totalled? Or should I have no problem getting the repairs done and it would feel like new?

Sorry about it dude, I have the same year and color and I love mine too.
As for your accident, I recommend you claim it with your insurance, sh*t happens. Did your airbags deploy? I think it would be difficult to calim it totalled if the engine hasn't been damaged.

Thats a good point lowelcam...

My airbags didn't deploy...which is strange, because I hit the honda accord hard enough that its bumper fell off on the freeway. But then again, it IS a honda.

7k for the repairs?! good lord, my insurance is going to kill me.

I know the TC designers made the car in mind so it can be modified. Are front end body repairs/mods expensive? And i'm not just talking about a dress up kit.

I'm pretty sure being under 25 and rear-ending a car in your brand new tC already did that for you. Did anyone get injured and did you admit to ANYONE (besides us) that you fell asleep at the wheel?

Wow... that is almost the same damage i suffered from, and almost the same type of crash... I can't remember the damages, but I believe it was 7.2k I think yours may be approx. the same. The insurance paid for most of it, I think I only had to pay $500.

I actually got into my crash late at night, 1:30ish. It was a friday night, and the night before I didnt get a whole lot of sleep. Basically I went to school, then straight to work afterwards, and then went to hang out with my g/f after work for a few hours with little sleep.

The sad part is, I fell asleep going down the road in front of my house, the person parked there car on the road and I hit it. But if they didn't park their car there, I would've hit a bush... Your not suppose to park on any road here, cause I almost got a ticket once, but I guess they dont really enforce it... This was 3 houses down from my house too...

I didn't admit to the police, insurance company, or to the other person involved that i fell asleep at the wheel. I had an excellent record previous to the accident (my insurance is about 1000$ a month, 500$ deductible on collision.). No one got injured, although the guy was doing the whole "ah, my neck" deal, which everyone is expected to do if they get rear ended.

thats great advice! my brother rear ended a Cadillac coming back from school a few years ago.
ANyhow, your car is far from being totalled. It's considered totalled if the powertrain and or drivetrain suffered damage........ or if the price to repair is more than the value of the car.

I really hope you meant $100 per month. It's good you didn't admit to falling asleep, it could have landed you in bigger trouble if it was on the record.
