Default I feel like I'm getting the run-around at a dealership....

Few weeks ago my old faithful 91 Accord was rear ended and totalled.

Last Tuesday I finally got a check for it, and my rental car had to be returned, so I went car shopping.

Stopped by a local Scion dealership and placed a 100$ order on a car to get paperwork moving, as I didn't have time to finance that night. They didn't have the color/transmission combo I wanted, so they ordered one from the Port of Portland (where all the cars come in on ship). Said it was on ground status and would be here in a couple days (1 to 2).

So I came in Wednesday, did the financing, got approved.. etc etc. Left without a car as I figured I would, they again assured me it would be there by about Saturday at the latest, and be ready for pickup.

Saturday rolls around, I call. It's not there, won't be there till Sunday, and it'll be ready on Monday for pickup. I call Monday. It's not there, it'll be there later that day, and ready for pickup on Tuesday.

So I call today. It's not there, it'll be here later tonight and ready for pickup tomorrow.

What the F!$&....!!!

I couldn't care if they told me it'll be here in 2 weeks, but stick to that damn 2 weeks. This delay crap is irritating the ____ out of me. I mean in the meantime, I have no car and am forced to take a gas guzzler to work, costing me serious cash.

What options do I have in this kind of situation? I mean they have me under contract for the car, so it seems like all I can do is just ____ and moan, bend over and take it up the tailpipe...

If Scion dealers actually lowered prices and haggled like other dealers I'd say insist they reimburse you a little but otherwise I think you're kind of screwed, sorry to say. Maybe if you pester them enough for being jerks they might hook you up with like...free oil changes or something, Or maybe if they delay you again, inisist they loan you a car while you wait for your new one. My Ex's parents used to get freebie loaners from the dealers all the time for oil changes and then bring the loaner back 2-3 days later. So I'm sure thats a possibility...hrm....Other than that, I'm outta ideas.

Some dealers have starbucks coffee in them. Go score free coffee everyday and pester them and steal all the cool scion flare. Like those Hip to be sqaure attenna squares and such.

If I were you, I'd bug them until they ignore my calls. Acknowledge all the BS they have told you. All the promises that were broken. Just be an annoyance to them.

Demand for something since you're the customer and they failed to deliver the car on time. Free oil change, car wash, loaner, and maybe gas coupon too. A discounted sales tag would be sweet! :D

I called back and politely complained while explaining the inconvenience it's putting me in, and they're getting a loaner 08 tC put together for me that'll be ready this evening.

The manager wasn't in today, so I had to go through the salesman. Talk about a mess though. I've never had this much hassle with buying anything before.

Called up my dad to see what his take was on it and he told me to push for some tinted windows while I was at it... lol...

I would press for something a bit more than free oil changes. I'd try and get a free option out of them. I would tell them that my car is over a week behind, and that you don't feel the dealer is being honest with you. Get them to give you a free lip. They'll probably counter offer with something lame like floor mats.

I asked the Scion dealer about getting a car from the port, and they said it could take 4-8 to arrive in the Colorado. Although, he did say that they some times come in earlier. I was wondering why we hadn't seen any pictures yet. Thought you were too busy driving it.

I feel you man, i'm in the same situation sort of right now, I put a $500 deposit on an RS 3 on Sunday, the $500 would GUARANTEE my RS 3 on Monday, so Monday rolls by, i'm excited, I call up my dealer, and now he tells me they sold my car, so basically i was like WTF... but then he goes we have another RS 3 but you have to pay extra since it has a front bumper protector and floor mat, so i'm like ughh let me think about, so he says he'll have it ready by 5, so i call at 4 and he tells me that it's not going to be ready because of rush hour and he can't get a driver to get my car, but we have relocated you another RS 3, back to the regular price without the protector and floor mats but it will be ready Tuesday, so now it's Tuesday, I call him up and he says it'll be ready at 3, so I called him at 1, and he tells me that the seats are leather and not suede like I wanted and he said sorry they didn't so a full inspection and sent the car back, THEN he brings up the RS with the protector and floor mats again, than I just told him ____ it, give me back my deposit and i'm about to do business with other dealers =[

Wish that was the case ... I'll photo the crap out of the loaner though....

By 4-8, did you mean weeks or days?

If it takes them even 1 to 2 weeks, there will definitely be compensation...

Right now I'm thinking either lip spoiler, fog lights, stereo upgrade, or TRD springs...

Wow, that is horrible business; it's one thing that they keep delaying the vehicle over and over, but it's an entirely different thing when they pull the (what it sounds like) bait-and-switch on you more than once! I'm sorry you had to go through that, and I hope your next dealer is more honest and direct.

My experience w/ buying my tC (3 weeks ago) was pretty successful. My car was delivered within one week, but it didn't have tinted windows (which I asked for at the time). Fortunately, I decided to go w/out the tint and just get re-imbursed with the charge for it.

Hopefully, you'll all have better luck next visit. :\

Shocks aren't worth it. Get the lowering springs if you go suspension.

i know how you feel.
I wanted an 07 tc but none were left in white(which is a must in florida) so i got an 08 on thrusday of last week. It was kind of cool since they just came off the truck that morning and i bought it with 0 miles on it.

But anyways, I told them i wanted the pedestal spoiler, ground effects kit, fogs, and the alarm and they said they would have them on the car waiting for me since i am a good friend of the owner of the dealership. I was supposed to get a discount on the car too but that didnt happen either, but w/e. Anyways, that was on thursday. It is now tuesday. When i bought the car they said monday the latest. Today they said thursday the latest. We'll see when i get my freaking 2500 worth of parts plus installation. If they screw up my car I'm having them fired. Theyre lucky i wasnt ____ed that i paid $26k for everything. Damn tards.

It might be what they're actually getting told by the port/shipping company. It doesn't mean they might not give you free stuff if you ask, I just wouldn't be so quick to blame them.

Yup and I talked to the guy when we got down there.

He said the biggest mistake he made was made a promise he couldn't keep. I understood it wasn't their problem the port couldn't keep it straight.

Anyways.. I said I'm fine now with just the car, and we'll shoot for Friday pickup. If it aint done and ready by then, I told him to have compensation waiting for my car when it got off the truck.

They made due on the promise to get me a Scion laoner, but it wasn't no tC. So I'm stuck with a toaster box xB for the week. Kind of a drag but it gets 40mpg.. so whatever

Yea, I know exactly how you feel waiting for your tC. But I also know how it feels to work at the dealership and have customers blaming you for stuff thats not your fault.

In your case though, it sounds like you and the dealer are working thins out well. Hopefully your in that new tC as soon as possible.

Wow, I'm glad I didn't have to go through all this when I bought mine, LOL

there was a Flint Mica with a pedestal spoiler and a (I forgot the name - some light blueish silver color) with a lip spoiler

there was also a cherry color one used with the ground effects kit, trd exhaust, rims, and interior neon blue lights - but it was a definite no-no because they wanted more for it than the 2 brand new ones, plus the front lip was cracked

I picked the FM, did paperwork, and in about an hour, I drove my FM off the lot
