Default I HATE OTHER DRIVERS!!!!

Ok, so I'm heading into Hunt Valley Maryland going to work yesterday, sitting on Beaver Dam Road waiting to make a left onto the road I work on. The side of the road with oncomming traffic, is uphill so you can clearly see if anyone is comming or not. So I sit, and sit, and sit... finally... there was only one truck I was waiting for to pass before there were NO cars in sight so I could turn. He stops in front of me wanting to turn left, but has to wait until I move so he can turn. There were no other vehicles at the time, he's waving me to go, so is the other dude comming out from the road I work on. So, I go.

I'm almost totally on the road I work on, and this ying yang in a big new green SUV comes barrel arsing towards me... I could hear him accelerating, then slamming on the brakes, tires screeching, and hits my rear bumper.

I stop along the side of the road, and he's just sitting there. I get out of the car waiting for him to stop, a couple of seconds later I hear him peeling out and taking off. I only managed to get 3 of the tag numbers (if I got them correctly from the big green blur barreling towards me). Not one person who seen it happen stopped at all. It was if the dude that hit me sat there for a moment and thought to himself "should I stop?? Nah eff this I'm going to get into trouble I'm getting out of here!! SCCRREEEEECCHHHH"

From what I could see in the gloomy misty day, the damage isn't bad at all... and I am thankful it wasn't much worse. (I'm trying to get the courage to go out there since it's sunny and take a look... silver seems to hide a lot).

So, if anyone is near Hunt Valley and happens to see a big green new SUV with some minor front end damage (or just a paint scuff I don't know) to the front passenger side of the bumper... let me know lol. I THINK there was an M81 in the tag, but I'm not 100% certain. (I'm not holding my breath on that one lol).

WTF is wrong with people? They're called "accidents" for a reason. I highly doubt this dude was like "hey, I'm going to barrel straight into that silver car thing whatever the heck it is and smash into it, but pretend I tried to stop MUAH HA HA HA HA". How hard is it to just stop? I mean seriously.. it was a freakin accident!!!!

Call the cops and report it. Then if you find him they will have it all documented.

Report it, not just because it's an accident, but because it's a hit & run. The idiot driving the truck will be in a lot more trouble now, than if he'd stopped for causing the accident. If he gets away with it this time, maybe his next hit & run will be a murder.

seriously some SUV drivers are sometimes oblivious to whats goin on infront of em cause theyre so high....

if you chased him alittle and got his license plate number then it would be easier for the police to get'em...

I have you all beat... I had someone back all the way through my old cars bumper, bend my bumper bar, the drive forward ripping off my front bumper. ALl this during black friday at the biggest mall in my area and no one saw it???? You know how many people had to drive AROUND my bumper and not a single person reported it til security saw it in their SUV... I hate stupid people...

People should be allowed to take IQ tests and if you score high ennough you should be allowed to carry a gun and shoot stupid people, but only with re-usable bullets because I can think of a few people where I might actually consider them a wasste of lead....

I'm done ranting now, glad you're ok and the car didn't take too much damage...

A "hit and run" is a fellony. REPORT IT ASAP!!! At the very least, they'll start paperwork for it. If you ever see the guy again, and he has your color paint on his bumper, then you should call the cops again. They'll come right down. I promise!
But if you don't get it started now, and you see him in six months, then it's your bad.

I thought that depending on state its usually a 3rd degree misdemeanor until bodily injury is inflicted...????

I think they changed it. They were getting a bunch of people doing it, and once they changed the laq, the numbers went way down. I thought it was a federal law. I could be wrong though.

i was in a hit and run the night before the last easter. i was driving home with this jerk tailgating me in a big old 198X chevy panal van. then on rt 108 just past zion road, he trys to pass me on a two lane highway with double solid lines. for whatever reason, he hits my driver side. i started to slow down cause i figured he would pull over, but no, he takes off, so i start chasing him, he turns down brookville road, and i'm trying to just get close enough to get his plates, then he starts running off road, i turn onto a dirt road that heads in that direction, he goes accross the dirt road, into the field across it full of power lines. some low tree branches pull a ladder off the top of his van and he keeps on going. i have to let him go rather then chase him to who knows where because heaven forbid i corner him and he has a gun or something to murder me and my gf. we look at the ladder where the initials MAG are engraved. i call the cops and start heading back to the main road because i figure it is easier to for a cop to find me at the beer store at 108 and muncaster than down the 4th or 5th dirt road on the left down brookville road. while waiting, my gf has to go to the bathroom, the nice elderly clerk at the beer store asks what is wrong, she explains what happend, and he says that sounds like a he knows named mike gibbs *que dramatic groundbreaking music* the cop comes(actually i waited over an hour the cop never came, i flagged down a cop on his way by), takes a report and says he'll look into finding this mr. gibbs. the next day i decide to go take pictures of everything just incase my insurance company wants to see i really did chase this guy and whatnot take pictures of his trail through the fields. well it turns out that the last dirt road i was on before i lost him was actually a very long driveway to a house he was painting, and there he was! he confessed to hitting me and said that he ran because his van was currently registered because it can't pass inspection which was true, but the real reason was probably because he was drunk, i mean if the beer store clerk knows him by first and last name, and he is a middle aged man so it is not like he gets carded when he buys it. the important thing is that he did have insurance (probably not for long) through maif (maryland auto insurance fund which is like a last chance insurance that will insure you if nobodyelse do and you can afford it). i have been going to court because i want that a$$hole to really pay for what he did to my tc, and for running like a coward, but he kept getting continuences and now i am in school and can't go to court to testify. what really made me mad was that my window was down when he hit me and my side view mirror broke off and actually hit my poor gf. i was kind of a wreck for a week, i couldn't sleep, everytime i closed my eyes to get to sleep i was back in my tc chasing his taillights through the dark. but finially it passed after a week or so.

Heh well I guess in a sense he's lucky he did take off.. because I probably would have whipped out my tire iron and beat him with it LMAO (just kidding) That'd be somethin... dude sees a blonde haired chick getting out of her car, opening the hatch and getting out a tire iron...

I did file a report right after with Baltimore County PD (had to wait like 2 hours for him to get there though)

It's really not work taking pics of... it appears the clear coat is scraped JUST enough to require repainting... HOWEVER..

I have to wait until tomorrow to get ANOTHER look at it... because on the way in from work tonight from a break, maybe it was just the way the light hit it, I'm not sure, but I could have sworn I seen a crease in the quarter... I'm hoping it's just my eyes playing tricks on me.

And... I WOULD have chased him down, but thanks to the mist outside, the roads being wet... and the really CRAPPY (to put it nicely) stock Bridgestone Potenzas... my car doesn't go anywhere willingly in the rain/wet weather. And if anyone's ever been in Hunt Valley Maryland near the McCormick plant close to 3pm... traffic starts getting REALLY nice around that time (although it doesn't get REALLY terrible until like 4and after).

And BELIEVE ME... my eyes are freakin peeled for that SUV. I THINK it was a Trailblazer, but i'm not sure.

I called my insurance company (Nationwide), and (WARNING! The following statement is incredibly corny) I really hope they're going to be "on my side" (ya know, the whole "Nationwide is on your side" commercials?). I know with the way it's set up there's certain things I don't have to pay for, and I'm hoping this is one of them. I'm waiting for the adjuster or whatever to call me (lady said I had to open a claim to check it out, but I can close it if I wish and it won't affect anything) and find out what in my policy the way it's written it would fall under. She said if it falls under collision/comprehensive the $500 deductible applies (which the damage if it's just scratched shouldn't even come to that)... or it could fall under property or uninsured/underinsured motorist, in which I shouldn't have to pay jack.

I hope they can find the effer too. It didn't even sound like the cop was going to try to catch him though... he just handed me this paper and said "have your insurance company call this number for the report"... so we'll see. I'll probably call and nag them tomorrow LMAO
