Default I need Help! Oil Leak!

So I just bought my Scion 05 (1st Gen I believe) couple months ago. just ran inspection and found out has some work needed. the major thing is the engine oil is leaking front cover (the oil doesn't really drops, but wet around cover). the dealer asked 1600$, and the other mechanic I know asked for 600-800$.
do I have to fix this? Or can I just get oil change regularly and should be fine? Some of my friend told me it's really hard to spot actually leaking point and still have possibly to leak again after fix. So he told me just get oil change often (every 3k) and i should be fine since it's 10 yr old already.

*I don't really smell any oil or gasoline tho.

Thanks for help!

Check your oil level frequently. If you are not losing much oil between oil changes and you don't see drips on the ground after parking, it isn't going to cause much harm. From here on out however, you will want to keep an eye on the oil level to make sure it stays within range. A high mileage oil may be helpful as they tend to help the old seals and reduce leaks.
