Insurance on tC?
OK i just started looking at Scion tC and not only that i think it is pretty sweet for a cheaper amount of money and it is so much better value then the Civic...
im just wondering if the insurance rate on this car is high or low, i thought that the tC was geared towards a younger age group so then why would they have high insurance rates?

try doing a search before posting on, there are plenty of other threads that are similar but im more then happy to help you. Anyways, Insurance isnt that bad on a tC i am 18 (in high school) and insured under statefarm. They consider the car as a hatchback, so it was cheaper. I pay about 500 per half a year, thats full coverage. If you get side air bags they also reduce the cost of your insurance.
Celica is expensive because insurance adjusters look at it and it looks like a sports car.
I've owned 4 or 5 Civics and all of them were more expensive for insurance that comparable cars from other manufacturers just beacuse a.) they're stolen so much and b.) kids rice them up and get in accidents with them. If an insurance company looks at a car and it's got a ton of accidents associated with it, insurance will be higher.
Right now the tC is pretty low because they look at it on paper and see that it's classified as a "hatchback." My Civic hatchbacks were about $100/mo cheaper than my Civic EX Coupe was.
I pay $155/mo for the tC, full coverage through State Farm w/ a $500 deductible - I'm 22 and have 0 tickets, 0 accidents.
My 97 Civic EX was $235/mo for the same coverage through the same company. My 95 Integra GSR was $230/mo - same coverage, same company.
The tC's a good bang for the buck when it comes to payments and insurance.

It's really hard to compare what someone else pays to what you will pay. Location, age, and record make a HUGE difference. What I can tell you insurance on this car is cheaper than insurance was for my 98 bottom of the line Integra. Once I switched companies it was WAY cheaper, but even before that it would have been less money. Bottom line: it's a relatively cheap car to insure.
It's classified as a 2 door hatchback and your insurance will reflect that. i.e. it will be along the order of the other 2 door hatches on the market and not a sports coupe or sports car.
When I was getting quotes on insurance i inquired about a 2-door hatch focus.; (I have A-plan and wanted to balance the scion with a dirt-cheap "gets me there and back" option) and the Scion tC insurance was lower by a few dollars a month usually. In all cases they were within a few dollars a month.

What the hell are you doing paying 3600 a year? Even an 18 year old male should not be paying those kind of rates (unless your record is other than clean - speeding tickets?) Either way,. shop it around. Try progressive. I'm paying about 1100 a year - 24 YO male with a clean record in Washington. The other thing is your covereage might be ridiculously high. At the rate you're paying, you'll replace your car every 5 years in insurance costs alone. That's not smart.
Yeah... since I pay mine 6 months at a time, it's like 550 or 580 for 6 months progressive with me. Plus I hear they're a really cool company who donates a lot of money to good causes and stuff, so I'm all for it. Unless you live in NJ, which seems to have by far the most expensive insurance around, you should not be paying more than 1,800 or so per year with a cleanish record.
2244 a year is not horrible for a 23 year old with an accident in Cali. I had AAA in Cali too - they have their own insurance company there - in other places they farm it out to someone else. I think you could probably change your covereage and get a better price, but at least you're not the guy above who said he was paying 3600 a year. That is opressively bad.

if you go to http://www.progressive.com you can get a free qutoe. Plus the Quotes of 3 other companys. It should not be bad b/c it is a 4 cyl. and it is considered a hatch back as already said.
