it makes sense that if you choose to drive at the limits, even in controlled conditions, you assume the risks associated with losing control. what doesn't make sense is having your coverage dropped just for asking a simple question. i say just keep it between the lines, and keep your insurer in the dark. if you race, be prepared to accept any losses you may suffer. that or get trackday insurance. either way, i'm never going to race my sole transportation. if i can't afford a separate track/weekend car, then i can't afford to race. that article had some good info though.

My aunt works for Allstate at their headquarters...Next time I see her. I'll ask her that question for future reference for Scion owners with Allstate.
I will tell you guys, if you do get into accident. I recommend dropping your tC at your house or a friend's. Rip out anything like turbos, CAIs, mufflers before the appraiser sees the damage.

No insurance company will cover damage to your car at any prearranged or sanctioned race - that includes drag strips and auto-x.
Working as an adjuster for 2 years I never came across someone who admitted to street racing - which I think is a gray area. So I don't know if you race at a light if you would be covered for the damages. If you are, you will likely need to find new insurance after that anyway.
Read your policy - it'll explain the specific exclusion.

only possibilities are if your insurance company allows for non-competitive non-high speed drivers training...like you took a skip barber class.
and you do not have to rip out your muffler if you do get damaged legit as someone else suggested.
