Default insurence on tc?

hey what are u guys paying for insurence on your tc? im 16 and looking to get a tc but if the insurence is too high i might look at some other cars. Is it considered a fast sports car? i hope its not as high as a celica because insurence on those for young drivers is crazy high!

You really just have to get some quotes yourself. Insurance varies. If you go on your parents insruance, that helps a lot.

While we're on the subject... I read about the "black box" in the tC. I also heard that some insurance companies might be willing to give discounts if you send them your black box information to show you do not speed excessively, etc... Has anyone's insurance company started doing this?

i have safeco.. no they haven't mentioned anything.. then again they don't ask personal stuff like that.. state farm would probably be the first to try that.. (the black box info)..

compared to my civic coupe.. i am not paying that much more at all for this car.. i think (have to double check) like $20 more per 6 months..

definitely try to get on your parents insurance.. a 16 year old by themselves with a brand new car, you'll definitely be paying A LOT! it's that whole "statistics" thing the insurance cos. use.. i think that old blue haired drivers who aren't aware of their surroundings and are mentally SLOW are actually worse on the road than a 16 year old.. the old, mentally challenged drivers cause accidents and never even know anyone was around!! shouldn't be on the road.. wow! but about insurance.. i found safeco was the lowest for me..

I'm 19 and I'm paying 150 a month, that's about 900 semi-annually, which is PRETTY GOOD. I was paying about 90~100 for my old 92' Honda Accord EX and I had DIRECT. Now I have NATIONWIDE. I went to ALLSTATE, PROGGRESSIVE, and DIRECT for the quotes man, and u wouldnt believe it, the price they gave me was like around 1800 SEMI-ANNUALLY!! That's CRAZY!! I was gonna give up and get some other car but then when I told the scion guy that I might be able to get the car I we expect. He helped me look for countless insurance companies and he found NATIONWIDE, and he had a SRS installed into my tC, plus i never got a ticket. thus it reduced to 900 semi-annually. Hope this helps.

p/s: Since u're under 18, it might be higher.

If you are in California, Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon or Washington check out 21st Century.

They gave me a great rate and coverage in LA compared to what others were quoting me. PM me if you want more info and I'll give you the contact info of my guy over there.

Default Insurance

I know my brothers insurance on his brand new Corolla S on my parents insuarance plan is still costing him about $2500 a year in NY. To be on his own plan it was like $3400 a year. He has a speeding ticket or two but nothing too expensive. He's going to be 21.

The quote I just got for my new xA RS is going to be $2971. However, I was quoted as high as $4695 a year so shop around. Oh and those quotes were for the exact same coverage. I know if you are in CA you can buy a binder for 30 days insurance through the dealer for like $300. It might be worth it to give you some extra time to shop around for the best deal.

Then again I don't recommend a brand new car for any kid under the age of 20 or so or any new driver of any age. And yes it is considered a sports car, because it falls into the import tuner category.

Good luck with it if you do get it though.

I just turned 20 and I was paying $103.00/mo for full coverage with Geico. However, I got my bill this month and it was 125. Called Geico and they claimed the rates were increased because of the area I live in, and the high risk in driving that's associated with it. It still sounded like BS to me. I had one ticket on my record from when I was 17 (which cleared off my DMV record over a year ago but it takes an extra year to clear off Geico's record) but they said I wasn't really being charged for it. Apparantely you only get a discount with a 5 year + good driver record.

Everyone here whose under 21 and says anything less than $130/$140 per month is on their parents' insurance for sure. If you're going to be under your parents that's one thing, but if you're going to pay your insurance yourself and not have "mommy and daddy" help you then expect to pay more. I'm 21 (almost 22) and mine's $145/mo for full coverage through State Farm in MI, $500 deductible, no tickets, no accidents.

$255 a month living in the city of Pittsburgh, 1 ticket almost 3 years back and 20 years old (21 in January, which should drop my rates down some) is the best that I could find. Luckily I dont get my tC for about 3 more weeks so I have the chance to shop around some more

Oh yeah, this is on my own. Sans Parents.
