Interesting Proposition
Ok...so I know that we have compared the tC to the Mazda 3, Sentra, Corolla, RSX, and all those. But I was proposed an interesting option the other day and am not sure which to take. I was planning on purchasing a tC when it comes out, probably with the s/c. It is right in my price range and seems to be the best for the money. I would probably purchase in November. However, my parents recently offered that, if I wish to wait 2 years, they will let me buy out their 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5SL for about the same price. I know they are two completely different categories of cars. What would you guys do if offered the same? :?:
Oh hell yes....those brand new Maxima's are beautiful....does it come with the skylight? See if you were to wait you could save that money towards the Maxima....if you want performance for it you go to
www.stillen.com
they have performance stuff for it

Don't trust your parents
If anything, get the tC now and in 2 years trade it in for a used (or their) MAxima. This way you can drive a "new" car every 2 years. Why would you want a car a long time anyway? It gets boring too fast. I get a new car every 2-3 years cuz change is good.

yeah...
ur parents maxima will be old school in 2 years...and for the price they're offering... i rather get a brand new TC.
i don't tend to keep my car very long either... the longest one i had was 6 years for my old 1996 accord. other than that... i've been averaging about 3 years on any car.
Change is good...especially with cars.
in conclusion... supercharged TC is gonna blow away the maxima ...

The tC may not beat it off the line but it'll run circles around it in handling. Who wants a boat when you can drive something nimble (and fun) like the tC?
Trust me dude, save the maxima for when YOU'RE the parent.
The maxima might be pretty, and it may have a nice engine, but man it'll be a boring everyday driver.
(plus I bet 0-60 would be close with the s/c ... those new maximas are friggin HUGE)
besides... what are you gonna drive until then??

Go with the new ride - who knows what sort of depreciation will hammer the Maxima in two years? Are they on a lease at the moment? If so, you will almost certainly be better off buying one on the used market as opposed to purchasing one at the end of a lease term.
No doubt - the Maxima is a cool car. But in two years, who knows what Scions will be available? You never know...

Go Tc!!! I have had 10 cars in 3 years and its fun getting new cars. I have had my Mazda3 for 4 months now and I am more then ready to get a Tc I think. I am just in the final stages of thinking about it hahaha. Plus they make you wait when they're not out yet...geeeze. Anyways.. go Tc, not Maxima. I would never trust when parents say 2 years anyways. what happens if they make you wait 2 years, and a year and a half down the road something goes wrong with the Maxima? that would suck. those are my $.02
You guys are crazy. A Maxima is a 35 thousand dollar car that has nearly twice the horsepower of the tC. These cars aren't even in the same class.
What are you driving now?? Is it going to last another 2 years till your parents decide to sell? Also keep in mind that in two years the Maxima will be just getting down around the price that a tC goes for new, while the tC will then be 2 years old and probably worth 10k or less.
Another thing to keep in mind is that parents are alot more friendly than a dealership or a bank as far as payments go. They probably won't charge you interest, and there won't be any repo guys or destroyed credit if you miss a payment.

i wouldnt trust parents. sometimes they may end up lying. you'll never know.
It all depends on what situation you're in right now. Personally, I don't think my car would last another 2 years, but your situation might not be as bad as mine.
And unless you're in your late 30's or older, you're going to look like you're driving your mom's car... (which technically you will be)
****** up the tC and enjoy it. If you decide you want more car later, sell it when they actually get ready to unload the Maxima. You are not going to like waiting and watching your maxima deteriorate in your peeps hands before you even get it...

The car is a 2004....what're you talking about parts and maintaince...it's still under warranty!! You guys talk like he's getting the family 1978 malibu wagon with 250k miles on it.
Personally, if I saw a young guy driving a new Maxima I would just think he's got some money.
.......unless you're like 16 and 5'4"....then I might think it was the parents car.

Go for the Maxima!
If after two years the car has been reliable (that is, if its a good seed), i would totally go for the Maxima!
Would you rather have a VQ full size sedan... or a coupe that gets similar MPG (22/30 versus 20/28 ), is markedly slower, and has less interioir space...
As for people saying that you'll look like a fool, and that the Maxima is an old person car, that makes as much sense as saying that buying the tC will make you look like a pimply 16 year-old riceboy.
